So today I didn't feed Kitty Boo through the night and this morning his BS was 114 which was at 8:15 which was PM + 10. I fed him and then at 10:00 his BS wa 132 and I gave him about 1/4 can of his pate' and his Lantus of 1.0 unit.

Added: I notice when Kitty Boo goes very long between feedings he starts vomiting. He did that this morning at 6:30. Usually I go ahead and feed him, but this morning I wanted a fasting blood sugar at 8:00. Is this necessary? It seems when he goes a long time without eating he vomits and his sugar is lower..If I feed him through the night and all day in smaller meals, he doesn't get sick, but then his blood sugars are higher even though he is only eating the pate'?

I am going to recheck again at AM+4

Emma,

I would leave food out for Boo at night. It sounds to me like he is getting upset stomach from going to long without eating. I open a new can right before I go to bed and put it down for the cats to eat on though the night. It is usually all gone when I get up at 5:30 to feed the outside feral cats. So then I feed them again at 5:30 and go back to bed.

If I put out a can of food, he will gobble it down and vomit it back up from eating too much too fast. This is a cat that was used to eating his kibble when he wanted to..eating a little off and on all day or night. Switching him to wet food has been hard because he still wants his kibble. As soon as I can get some extra money, I am planning on buying that night feeding/timing dish that opens at a certain time, and then I can give him some food at the amounts I need to give him and at the times without getting up throughout the night.

Maybe leave out half a can and put the other half in the fridge. You can get the plastic lids to put over them for free from the vet. The cat manufactures give them to them or can but them at the store.
You can also give him a half of a Pepcid at night, that would be regular Pepcid, you can buy generic, Do not give Pepcid Complete only regular.

I have a couple scarf and barfers too. Try freezing the overnight can and putting it out as a hockey puck he can nibble on it as it thaws.
