Sometimes I feel like this all alone is a full time job! LOL but I'm trying very hard! That's understandable about not wanting to be up at +9 every day to do a snack and a check. It's okay. I have the same issue as you about the auto feeders and the cats having full run of the house - just harder with 4 cats!
Did you give a snack when you got the +2? Aurora may be thinking of visiting the sharks.![]()
I get it....I am still researching the auto feeder. I found a really nice one but didn't realize it was almost $200! Ouch! It could be operated thru a smart phone and had a camera and you could program it with your voice to play a come and get your fuds call - but yeah, not spending $200 bucks, I think I need 2 feeders, I don't trust that civvie Mulan wouldn't have her face in there as soon as it opened and then Aurora would miss out.Back into the lagoon Aurora! I can't stress the importance of the +9 snack enough when kitties are at this tiny dose of insulin. It was when I saw Bubba's AMBG come down to greens. The problem with just leaving a snack out is that she could eat it way ahead of the +9 hour. The timing is important.
I saw that one, too. Wouldn't that be neat... but x4 .. ouch!I get it....I am still researching the auto feeder. I found a really nice one but didn't realize it was almost $200! Ouch! ouch is right! I use the PetSafe 5 and had to get 2 also for Bubba and Forrest and it works perfect for me. All the bells and whistle on the 200 buck does sound fun, though.realize it was almost $200! Ouch
It looked so sleek and modern and the camera inside allowed you to dial in with your phone when it opens to see if anyone is eating.ouch is right! It sounds like a lot of fun. If $$ was no problem, I would sure want one but seeing how I needed two of them...........It looked so sleek and modern and the camera inside allowed you to dial in with your phone when it opens to see if anyone is eating.
I can attest to the awesome-ness over an over-priced feeder...I get it....I am still researching the auto feeder. I found a really nice one but didn't realize it was almost $200! Ouch! Oh no don't get me started...hubby will kill me!I can attest to the awesome-ness over an over-priced feeder...
I had to get one of the microchip feeders for my civvie because she NEVER eats all her food in one sitting and Gordy kept getting into her dry. One of the best investments I've ever made.
Hahah. I know. It's a tough amount to swallow, but it was a Godsend. Downside... this one isn't a timed auto-feeder, so it wouldn't be ideal for your looking for anyway.Oh no don't get me started...hubby will kill me!
I was looking at that one - I like it because of the larger compartments and the dishes seem nice and flat. I feel like some of the other feeders out there tend to have a pie shaped opening and I'd think that would cause whisker stress. Can you hear the timer making that clicking nose the whole day?It sounds so complicated that something is almost certain to go wrong with it! I really like the CatMate C-20, two-compartment feeder with mechanical timers (just like the ones you use in your kitchen). Simple.
It runs on 1 AA battery. I change the battery about once a year, just to make sure it doesn't die (it's still working when I change it!). The tick is very quiet. You can't hear it unless you put your ear right up to the timer. The trays are easy to clean. I put small, ceramic dishes into the trays because Rusty likes to eat from a dish with sloping sides. You can experiment; just make sure the lids close with the dish inside the tray. The cold block is great in the summer. I bought an extra so that one is always in the freezer.I think ideally I'd like something that plugs in - I don't want to be blowing thru batteries like crazy all the time if it's only battery operated.

I had one of the digital, rotary 5-compartment feeders with pie-shaped compartments when we had Stu. I had problems with it because it sometimes stopped between compartments and poor Stu couldn't get his head into the opening. But many people here like that one. (I also disliked it's huge size).
