Good Tuesday Morning,

It was a long weekend....no amoxicillin went past his lips, what a battle, they gave me the unflavored. said it was fruit flavored, use water and mix with something he'll drink, so I did, no way, but I had put some aside, and tride chix broth as told by vet, no way...in his food, in a syringe, still not happening, but he is eating a lot better, and drikning some by himself, with lots of water in his food. waiting to hear from the vet, should I try the clindamycin, he has had that before...I also think he is having some anxiety, when I left this morning, he was under the bed. DH was going to get him out, work was calling...

Beech Nut Beef, is not avaialble where I am, asked a co-worker with child to find me some! and getting him some beef & liver , he liked that.

and Forti Flora should be in soon. will work on his ss. numbers went low over the wekend, monday noon was 152.

I think that 152 on Monday looked good!!

I'd suggest mixing some of the amoxy up and sticking your finger in it to see what it tastes like. I suspect it's less than pleasant. There are a couple of compounding pharmacies that can make many drugs into chews, transdermal ointments, or liquids. If that's what you need, be sure to ask if they can do this in a sugar/corn syrup free manner given Junior is diabetic. Wedgewood and B &B are ones that I know about.

I'm concerned that Junior is hiding. Please keep an eye on him to make sure he's OK. Cats are masters at hiding when they don't feel well.

Hi Sienne!

So Happy to hear from you! and the 152 looked good , didn't it!

about the med...It tastes absolutely gross...I wouldn't take it either if I had a choice!
I am waiting for the vet, thinking of trying plain again, mixing it with watered down baby food? or maybe just wait and see, or try clindamycin, I guess I just don't know right now what to do.

And you are right, I don't like it when he hides, but he seemed to have a good weekend, I was home alot, in and out...he liked it. Can he get separation anxiety, like people do? It almost seems like it, he does like being finger fed, so will have to watch that too.

DH will check on him at lunch, he is working closer to home today.

IMHO, any of our companions can experience separation anxiety. Gabby is clearly not amused if I travel and can become even more of a diva if I'm gone -- even if I have a cat sitter come in because I've got an event that conflicts with shot time. In Junior's case, though, since he hasn't been feeling well, I'd just be extra attentive.

I don't understand why vets figure that our cats will consume a medication that tastes like cr*p that we wouldn't eat. Cats like a lot of the same things that we do. Maybe your vet should taste the stuff before he prescribes it!
