All good here this morning. Zener is having a nice little visit to Sweden, starting out a lot like yesterday, which for Zener has no relevance to today.  Appy is good, he is napping in the sun with his nanner and shark. He's resting after his big yard patrol this morning and other business (Detective Poo scored this morning  ).

OT: The firefighting is winding down and personnel are starting to leave, down from 1100 to 850. :-D :-D Phew. We feel like we dodged a bullet. The next concern is flood and debris flow control. Our monsoons (heavy afternoon thunderstorms) usually start around July 4 and these steep canyons are going to be a big problem.

Thinking of ailing kitties and beans. Sending comfort vines to Ella, Edward and Rusty as they mourn the passing of their friend Jean. Comfort vines for Kelly, mourning the passing of her Oliver. Good vetty vines for Trixie this afternoon. Happy Wednesday, LL!

Hi Liz,

So glad to hear that things are calming down for a little while. I can't believe that there is so much to contend with in your part of Arizona.

Zener sounds like a laid back kind-of guy - I wish I understood why some kitties are harder to regulate than others. Have a great day enjoying the fresh air Liz, Anne and Zener.

Well Zener. What next? Great to hear that the fires are winding down. That is a huge relief. Have a great day!

Even though I'm Norwegian Sweden looks pretty good right now!  Tess however has headed for the homeland!

Good new on the fire winding down. Rain in July? I'm jealous, except for the mudslides! :?

Nice job on the turnaround Zener! What's the shark? Sounds like he's living the good life. :-D Maybe dreaming of the lagoon?

Great news on the fire. I hope that's it for this year, but it is early in the season.

Glad to see Zener has turned himself around and that the fires are slowing down. Hopefully your monsoon season isn't as bad.

It's nice to see Zener is heading back down. That's good news on the fire.

Thanks all for visiting Zener and checking in on us. Our guy decided he was done with Sweden (though he looked very handsome in his Swedish scarf from Neko) and is sporting his O Canada red tonight.

The fire is now in "mop up" stages with restoration and cleanup going on. We think the back burning ended today, and we were relatively smoke free. :-D

Good report on the fire. I hope that it is really finished.

Z Man, keep coming down tonight. Slide!

Thanks so much for your words of sympathy. We will all soon have a big party in Jean's memory.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Glad Zener is feeling well today. However, sorry he didn't stay in Sweden longer. It's so nice there...or so the pictures look! :-D Glad you all are safe and the firefighters are able to wind down now. Sleep well!!

Hey Z-man, what're ya doing in the stinky pinkies? They do look better than red on you, but I think you need to keep going to the yellow floor - a good place to spend the night.

I'm glad to hear the fire is dwindling and likewise the smoke. You know, growing up in Tucson, I don't remember hearing about a lot of wildfires. Of course, kids often don't pay attention to stuff like that, but I wonder if, statistically, it's gotten worse over the years? I do remember in 2002 there was a horrible fire up on Mt. Lemmon that filled Tucson with nasty smoke. My mom lived on the east side of town and normally had a clear view of the mountains, but for a week or so all you could see when you walked outside and looked north was horrible, dark gray smoke. Yuck! Unfortunately, with the dry winter, I'm sure this won't be the last of these things.

I hope the night duty bean enjoys her nice, relaxing night!
