Yesterday
Hi kids! Shadow has 3 Ps today so far. We have had a heck of a time this past weekend! Shadow's appetite has been off and although I have tried to open new flavors and tempt him at each meal, it was touch and go. I gave many different doses over the past couple of days....regretted when I gave the regular dose after he atewell since he seemed to dip later on in the cycle.
Sigh!
I was more comfortable giving him a BCS dose ....in case he dipped low. I have not had to syringe him thankfully. But still, I have had a horrid time with his numbers. One good thing I have to say: he has NOT vomited and for that I am thankful! I have been blaming it on the full moon.... Shadow usually is affected by the full moons. Hopefully, he will settle down from now on. He seems to be getting so thin....wish he would eat better. I gave him a B12 shot the other day but I have not noticed any difference in his appetite....
Hope this behavior will pass soon. I am very worried....
 
Oh Pat, I know how scary it is, when he won't eat....or doesn't eat well. I understand about opening different flavors to stir the appetite.
I'm really glad though, that Shadow hasn't vomited lately, that means you're not worrying about P'titis?
Sending lots of "eat, your foods" vines, his way.

I had J.D. on Pepcid and Ondansetron for a very long long time and he would be eating better and I tried many times to stop the Ondansetron and within a few days he would be back to not eating as much again. His dx for Pancreatitis was last March. I have finally gotten him off the Ondansetron, but will still give him some on occasion when he seems to not want to eat much. Of course, I'm leaving for tbp, so I need him to eat before I leave. Have you tried an appy stimulant?

Thanks Barb and Dyana! Yes, I am worried always now about Pancreatitis....but I watch for vomiting mostly now. As long as he is keeping the food down it's a little better I think. And yes, Dyana...I have used Temptations crushed on top a lot too...and they both get the freeze-dried chicken at each meal. I did buy some freeze-dried turkey for a change which I give him when he turns away from the other. I also got some freeze-dried chicken liver too. (and I have some fish too!!) :mrgreen:
In the past, the vet has given us some Mirtzaprine (spell?) but that can only be taken once every 3 days as you know. We didn't do that this past weekend though. I toyed with giving him Ondansetron everyday too but decided not to do that.
I have given him catnip which he likes to eat too. Plus, different food that has higher carbs too for a change. The B12 used to give him a good appy but not so much this time. I would try all sorts of things but didn't want to give him an aversion to the eating thing.

I hope Shadow's appetite picks up. That is so frustrating and worrisome when a kitty doesn't want to eat.
I don't like that you said he was so thin. (((Pat))) Maybe with the passing of the full moon he will get back to his normal appetite.
I will keep you both in my thoughts.
 
Hi Pat - The numbers are wodnerful, though I can so understand the worry... I remember with Mannie going through the no appy when he had p'titis. His bout with that really affected him, even after he was better, and his appy. It is so worrisome when they won't eat, one never knows too what one should shoot. I ended yup with alot of BOS shots too. It was just safer. I so hope Shadow's appy will pick up for you. Paws crossed big time. I can relate to the so thin too... HShadow - you eat well, 'K?
