Looks like Max had a really nice day yesterday and a good start today, too! Hope you got your spin class in and have a good day today.

So far Max likes the Mauri kangaroo byt I've only given him a few spoons of it. He just now seems to be feeling better and I don't want to rock the boat.

You are absolutely right that they should have gotten a sterile sample. To be honest you don't know if there is an infection or not. For example, my elderly mom has chronic infections and we have to take her to the urologist to get samples directly. A free catch is fine to check for some things like glucose but not for infection. They need to do it for free!

Stay out of that deep end Max! :D

Both my kitties love their raw kangaroo. Interesting on your pricing. I pay $2.49 for 1/4 lb of raw, which is enough for one cat for a day. I usually buy in 1/2 lb packages to feed both cats, for $4.19. @rhiannon and shadow was also looking for novel proteins for Shadow.

More vines for you mom.

He decided he didn't like the sharks or it was a 20% low reading. I guess I'll see if he bounces.

I found a site that sells Mauri food on line supposedly but it all says out of stock. Someone pointed out to me that the ovine plasma is sourced from lamb so isn't sure if it would be a novel protein unless the cat has never eaten lamb before. If wanting to use as a novel protein you would need to stop all other proteins before feeding this.

where are you finding Mauri.... I just found a active paws pet supply that has it by the can....
so I can try it

I actually haven't found it near me. The rep would see if a specialty pet store would special order it for me. So far online I haven't found it except for one place that was charging about $3.60 per can and bought by the case of 12 6 oz cans. They were out of stock though. Did you find it locally ? How much per can?

Interesting. I tried putting it in the cart and it didn't show shipping. Did you buy it?

We cross posted. :)

I buy fresh human grade kangaroo meat for Sheba from the supermarket. It costs $17 Aus a kilo. That is 2.2 lb. I cut it in portion size pieces and freeze and get out each day. She loves it. Because kangaroos are completely free range their meat is high in omega 3s and B vitamins. @Wendy&Neko @rhiannon and shadow
Apart from kangaroo meat each meal, she has chicken, egg white and a bit of yoke and heart and liver (liver only 8 grams every second day). Her health since she has been on that diet is so much better...I don't think I would ever feed another cat I have anything but home prepared again. I know it is hard for working people to do but if possible I think it is worth the extra work.
I wish I could send you all some fresh kangaroo meat!

We can't get it here. The Mauri intrigued me. They supposedly carry it at a couple of pet food stores 40 miles from here but when I checked their websites I didn't find it. If Nac really likes it and it agrees with him the rep offered to see if s local premium shop would special order it but I think it will cost too much.

Whoa Max! Interesting that Wendy in Vancouver can get kangaroo so easily, she is only an hour from me, but I couldn't find that food either! Glad to hear Max likes it and hope he and your mom are feeling better too! :bighug::bighug:

I can buy kangaroo burgers and sirloin for people too. And I just saw a cooking school offering grilling classes for kangaroo and Tibetan yak meat! Another option is to buy a Premix like TC Feline and make your own if you can source the meat. And that includes exotic meats like llama, moose, emu, ostrich, elk, pheasant ...

Max wasn't interested right away when dinner was served probably because I woke him up from a deep sleep. He downed the piece of shrimp without any problems though.

I hate to say it but my mom still is not doing well. Tha is why a dodged the issue. Thanks for caring though arithmetic, Wendy, Carla, Laura Wendy and everybody else who has asked.

I seriously considered asking the Mauri sales rep if he wanted a West Coast rep. I bet I could get him some orders between this board and the pancreatitis one. I'm afraid to give Max too much of it as I don't want to upset the apple cart so I don't know yet if he really loves it or not.

I'm sorry to hear your mom isn't doing well. Sending lots of vines. I hope Max keeps liking the kangaroo! @Tricia & Cinco thanks for tagging me yesterday. I have been out of the loop and just saw it now.

We actually have a store here that carries Mauri. I tried it a while back and Billie wasn't interested, but I still have a can at home and will probably try again.

@tiffmaxee @rhiannon and shadow and anyone else, if you are having trouble getting Mauri, I could buy some here and ship it to you and you could PayPal me or something. PM me if I can help!

Thanks Deanna. Which flavors did you try? I've only tried a little of the kangaroo and today was a good eating day for Max. They have goat for dogs and will soon have it for cats so you might want to give that a try. The dog one is fine for cats. Since you need a novel protein you wouldn't want to continue with the current protein or you won't know if the new food helps or not. I hope you are enjoying your new place and the kitties are doing well with the move.

What a great day for Max today!...Numbers and food both!!

Sorry to hear your mom's not doing well, Elise. Dealing with an aging/ailing parent is a tough job.

Hey Max....good thing the lagoon sharks weren't hungry when you went out past the shark net!! Now stay away from the trampoline!~ China

I tried all the cat flavors and Billie wasn't interested, although she wasn't eating well in general when I tried them. It's possible a happy appy Billie would like them. That's really good to know about the dog flavors being okay for cats - I will definitely try the goat. The girls are doing well and settling in better!

Not all the dog flavors are the same. You have to look at the ingredients. The goat one is but it doesn't have enough taurine so you would need to add it to the food. I'm glad the girls are doing well.

I fell asleep and should have tested after an hour instead of 1 1/2. Reducie earned. I'll shave as always.

Ah, Max! You snuck one by the bean! Good job. Now you need to be sure to hold that reduction you just earned. You can do it! :D Meanwhile, Mama needs sleep, so keep heading up and surf safely tonight, okay?

Move vines and prayers for your DM and :bighug: for you, Elise.

Thanks Tricia. I hate to reduce. I just don't think it will stick but I double checked that 36.

There's a newbie that was told to give her 12 pound cat 3 units as a starting dose. She figured out it should be 1.5 and that makes sense to me. After three shots of 3 units the cat was 98 at PMPS. I told her not to shoot. If you are on board would you take a look?
