Happy Holiday everyone,

hope you enjoy your day and your fur babies are safe and surf nicely in the beautiful green and blue lagoon.

Ducia is too busy bouncing from long- not- seen- greens and even more bouncing from the high blues..:( I am truly disgusted with the pinks in the SS but what can you do? *sigh* My patience pants are getting shabby...

Today is the 5th cycle since greens so threatening to increase tomorrow is quite legit..Do you hear me, Ducia? The increase...you better come come down...

Wishing all happy sunny day!

Hmmm.... Just looked at her spreadsheet, and I'm not sure but I don't think she used to bounce from blues in the past. Maybe the numbers are just elevated for some other reason? Any possibility there's something bothering her (teeth I know are an issue-- do her gums look the same as usual?)?

Hi Nan,
thank you for looking on to the SS!
Maybe the numbers are just elevated for some other reason?
That's my biggest worry now.. She seems her usual self, doesn't appear to be bothered by anything, appy/the 5 P are norm.
teeth I know are an issue-- do her gums look the same as usual?)?
There is pink area on her upper gums and looks like she has a lot of tartar on her teeth too - yellowish stuff on the teeth, looks like dirty.
To be honest I cannot call it a healthy mouth :( but it is just as pink as it was when I reported it earlier (I forget when) , not worsened and she was getting Greens regularly. She eats without obvious signs of pain, but she does drop pieces of food from her mouth;I read it was one the warning signal for bad dental..

Thing is the dental procedure is out of reach financially at the time...:( I feel horrible about it :arghh:. Darn money.. always gone..

How convinced do you feel that the dental is to blame for the recent pinks in her SS?
There was some period of time when Pinks made rare appearances but not this week...

If it's dental to blame I am totally screwing my cat's health...:(:arghh:

Oh no, I didn't mean to suggest that!!!!!

I really have no idea either way from the spreadsheet-- there are hints but nothing close to conclusive there. And Ducia isn't talking to help clear things up! Though, it's a very good sign that she still seems to be feeling good with all 5 P's-- so maybe this is just part of the ups and downs of the sugar dance.

Hi Tanya! I think she is still bouncing from 5 cycles ago. Back on 5/17th she bounced into the pinks. If she doesn't come back down to greens after cycle 6, then she just might need an increase. I wouldn't jump to anything else going on like infection just yet.

Which ketone meter are you using?

Trueplus strips, manufacturer: Trividia, USA.
It is the cheapest brand, we by either at Walmart or CVS - most common human pharmacies in CA.
I read how unsatisfactory ppl were with anything named True..:(

If there is any other, more reputable/reliable brand I will get it. There are some money for better supplies/food but nothing close to the cost of major procedures such as dental.

I got it, I got it!!
We briefly spoke before about those pink areas on her gums before - the only natural /logical thing that comes to mind was is that it had to be looked at eventually. I totally agree with that.

Let's hope so.:bighug::bighug:

I used the Abbott Precision meter. The strips are very pricy. The reason I asked is because I have some that will expire in Nov and would send to you if we used the same meter. I don't really know about your meter compared to mine as far as ratings go.

Would DCIN help with the dental?

Thank you so much Bobbie for the offer!
I do not use ketones meter - only the dip strips.
Have you heard of any better strip brand that might be relied on better than the "True+"?

We spent so much of their money and the program it was done under is called "one time" something. I simply cannot ask again.
I am going to try to save for dental for some day in the future. Hopefully the BG numbers will go down on themselves, or if I see no Green this AM and this PM, I will increase tomorrow AM and that'll work.

Oh, I thought you were using a ketone meter. I really don't know anything about the strips as far as which ones are more effective. We tried the dip strips but, Bubba was very private in the box and I couldn't ever catch him in it. So, for that reason of convenience I went to the meter. Also, the ketone meter shows ketones immediately whereas with the urine testing, it can take 4-8 hours for the ketones to show in the urine.

The dentals are pricey with the pre blood work and all. In my area it's a good 800 bucks when all said and done if a few extractions are necessary. I just did our dog and Forrest my civvie is next......then it will be time for Bubba again. A bad tooth took him out of remission the first time last Sept and it hadn't even been one year from his previous dental.

Hmm..certainly something to consider here :bookworm::cat:. I am building the list of my "wish for" presents for this year - B.D. and Christmas are usually times when I got something - and Ducia's blood work is on my BD wish list this year.

I read about dental being the most common remission breakers for cats. :(

Something don't understand - if tooth a re pulled out how do pets eat?! Do you also have to switch them to pate style food/ ground meat only? Have you had to change your dog' food?

I hope he does well this year - being a mouser like Bubba means most likely chewing on natural de-tartar food/bones on a regular basis and I hope it'll suffice to keep his mouth healthy.:bighug:

I thought of that. When he got bumped out of remission, he had only be allowed back out to mouse for 6 weeks! :(

They do quite well with missing teeth. So far Bubba is missing 3. If they lose a majority of them then I guess pate foods would be best.
