It's been a while since Ive posted...pretty busy the last few weeks with a bit of extra work, planning my trip, interviews, and...life in general. I have had time to lurk, and keep tabs on everyone despite my silence.
This weekend marks one year with my foster cat, Tippie!!!! After adopting out my first foster, I had to take a few months off and decide if I could do it again. I was suppose to get TWO cats so they could entertain themselves, and I could worry less. Instead, I ended up with Tippie. She was to be my practice run to see if I can live with a cat, instead of FOR a cat. If I succeeded, I promised myself I would consider adopting another cat in the future. Here are a few photos of Tippie within the first week:
She was so tiny (in my eyes). I was terrified I was going to lose her! In the last year the two of us moved together, she had her eye removed, and I lost my full time job allowing me to spend plenty of time with her. I have learned its ok to deviate from her schedule a bit, so I can live my life. Sometimes this means being away from home longer than I planned so I can do something fun! To celebrate our 1yr anniversary, and my goal of being less glued to a cat....I am leaving her to a house sitter for ONE WEEK! I fly out to Colorado tomorrow. I can't say I don't feel a great deal of anxiety, because I do. I know the house sitter will do a fantastic job. But I worry, because she is such a scaredy cat, that she will not come out or eat well. All Tippie knows is the great outdoors, a cage at the vets, and me. She does not take to strangers.
I must admit, despite being quite the traveler most of my life, after 5 yrs of never going more than an hour or two away from home...I am really nervous. It's become quite evident how housebound I became while taking care of Latte. Its been a very slow progression over the last 2 yrs to get me out and about more. I hope this trip helps me get a piece of myself back.
You know what else? I am going to miss her SOOOOOOOOOO much!!!!!!!!!!
