Yesterday's Condo

Cinco is full of surprises. This morning after his second breakfast, I heard him meow and went to look to see what he was doing, and he was on the floor, "playing" with his nanner again! :-D Two days in a row! I went to the kitty cabinet and dug out a brand new mouse of the same kind as the one I gave him when he was still living in the garage, recovering from DKA. He didn't seem too impressed, but about half an hour later I heard him again and he was playing with that (rather sedately, but he was moving it around a little)! He is now sleeping with both the nanner and mouse as a pillow! WOW! You have no idea what a big deal this is. He NEVER plays! He must feel pretty good. I get teary just thinking about it! Thank you, LL!!! I thank God every day that we found you. <3 (we need a heart smiley)

Now, to spoil the mood: Sasha is still sneezing, despite the 5 mg of Zyrtec I gave her last night. She wasn't really excited about eating this morning. In fact, she wasn't interested at all I left the food so I could tend to the others, and when I came back, she was in the lb. She came out, after a lot of digging, ignored the food I placed directly in her path (still untouched), and went to another littler box, where she did a lot of digging after squatting for a minute. She came out and ate two bites of food, so I left the room, happy, and when I came back I saw she hadn't eaten any more than that and was back in the box. In my best Detective Poo manner, I went back later and checked out both boxes. She had loose stools in both of them. Not full blown diarrhea, but definitely loose. I've been giving her SEB for her tummy issues and coating the pill pockets with Forti Flora. I wouldn't expect either of these to cause loose stools, would they? When she had her annual exam last month, the vet was concerned about the possibility of IBD, and now I'm wondering if that is indeed what's going on. She has only had one other episode of loose stool since the exam (May 7th). Does anyone have experience with IBD? Any ideas? I know they treat it with Pred. That's also what they've been treating her sneezing and congestion with, so maybe she needs to go back on it? :YMSIGH: She's not eating her pill pockets again, so I hate to put her on another med. I had to shoot the Zyrtec down her throat last night. It's always something.

At least Harvey inhaled his breakfast this morning and begged for more! :-D

Sending healing vines to all in need, and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG:

Awwwww......nice to hear that Cinco was playing! I just love to watch the kitties play with their toys, especially when it doesn't happen to often. Brings a nice smile to the face, that's for sure!

I hope Sasha feels better soon.

Re: 5/27 Cinco AMPS 214 +4 121 +6 93

Cinco!! You're not supposed to let the beans catch you playing! You're supposed to act like you don't care for their toys until they're out of the house!

What a wonderful condo, Tricia! I guess not everything China has taught Cinco is bad

Can you believe these 2? Today's numbers for China are AMPS 178,+3 150,+6 82....once again they seem to be mirroring each other!

Sorry that Sasha is still sneezing. Poor baby! I'm not an expert on IBD, but I do know that loose poo can be one of the symptoms, as can constipated and dry poo...it can go back and forth which is one of the things that makes it such a frustrating disease to treat. I hope you can find something to help her.

Wonder what China and Cinco have planned for tonight? I'm not sure I want to know...LOL

Re: 5/27 Cinco AMPS 214 +4 121 +6 93

Thanks, Deb. Poor Sasha is going through a lot lately.

Chris, you really shouldn't ask that question, 'cause you know they will take it as a challenge! Tell China I said thank you for teaching Cinco it's okay to play (when no one's watching) and for taking Cinco to the lagoon with her today. I'm very happy to see him wading in the shallows anytime, and hopefully he and China will keep each other out of trouble...maybe...

Sorry, China. I know the rule, but I was so excited that I let out a little squawk, and nosy Mamabean just had to come see what I was up to! I stopped as soon as I realized she was there, but it was too late - she saw me. She sure got excited about it! Silly bean! - Cinco.

It's almost time for another dose of antihistamine for Sasha, and I'm trying to decide whether to continue with the Zyrtec or try the Chlor-trimeton. Decisions, decisions. Either way, I'll have to shoot it down her throat. She didn't want anything to do with the pill pockets this morning (Allerplex). She did, eventually, eat the rest of her breakfast, however. :thumbup

How great that Cinco is feeling good enough to play. I'm sorry Sasha is still sneezing and having loose poo. I hope Sasha feels better soon.

Re: 5/27 Cinco AMPS 214 +4 121 +6 93

I too love it when Neko plays. Cinco must be feeling really good to let you catch him in the act. :-D Nice touchdown in the lagoon today.

Mariko/Lucy deals with IBD and I think that's why she gives pred. Some acrokitties (Lu-Ann/Grayson is one) also have it. Have you tried any unique proteins with Sasha. I don't know what she eats normally, but maybe trying some venison, rabbit, quail or other meat she hasn't eaten before?

Re: 5/27 Cinco AMPS 214 +4 121 +6 93

Hi Tricia,
Very nice that Cinco is playong with his old toys again.

I hope that Sasha will be feeling better soon. Rusty gets his Allerplex mixed into a teaspoon of Stage 1 Beechnut baby food (turkey) with a little water added. He loves the taste. That's why we call it his "lung treat". I finger-feed it.

Thank you for your sympathy on the passing of Jean.

I love that Cinco is playing....how cute is that :-D ????

Continuing to send healing prayers to Sasha...I hope she's feeling better this evening!

Re: 5/27 Cinco AMPS 214 +4 121 +6 93

That is how I knew Scooter was feeling better after months of feeling sick he started to play with his toys!

YAY Cinco!!

Re: 5/27 Cinco AMPS 214 +4 121 +6 93

Oh It was so nice to read that Cinco was playing with his toys. It would have been cute to see him. Sending prayers for Sasha to feel better.

Thanks for the visits, everyone. Cinco actually had another go at the nanner later in the afternoon. Don't worry, China. He didn't know I saw him. ;-)

I don't know what to make of his numbers tonight. I can see the +2 being a food spike, although he doesn't usually do that, and dinner was a 5%. But why hasn't he come down more? DH swears the shot was a good one and no Lantus smell. Cinco and China must have had a fight, because she's still out there surfing in the lagoon and he's sulking on the shore. confused_cat

I gave Sasha 2mg of Chlor-trimeton this afternoon, and she's still sneezing. I'm going to try 3 mg tomorrow. I had to put her in the sack to get it in her, as I don't like wrestling with her when she still has the staples. She did eat her dinner well, but didn't want the pill pocket containing the Allerplex. I don't think it's helped her at all, so I didn't push it. Ella, I tried the baby food thing you do, and neither Sasha nor Minka wanted anything to do with it. Minka will eat her food with the Allerplex mixed in, but not Sasha.

Wendy, several years back, when Sasha first showed allergic symptoms, the vet had me put her on a unique protein diet. It didn't solve the itching problem she was having. She has had venison, duck, rabbit and lamb. She's not wild about any of them, although she does like the MaxCat Savory Duck and Savory Venison. They get that as a treat once a week or so. I don't think she'd like it as a steady diet. I gave her Evo pure duck once recently and she got sick. Too rich, I think.

Thinking of Kelly as she mourns her dear Oliver. :YMHUG:
