How's that story go that Snoopy is always writing? "It was a dark and stormy night...."

Went looking around today and it seems like my house was "ground zero"...the worst damage is within 1 1/2 blocks of my house....past there and there are a few limbs down and stuff that's been blown around some, but nothing like the damage around me. They're saying what caused the damage here was 100mph straight line winds and I believe it!

The SUV is 2 houses down from me and the big huge tree blown down is down the block.

Needless to say, it's been a noisy day around here...Lots of chain saws buzzing!! Going to have to have a roofer come out and check my roof for hail damage but will probably have to wait to get someone who can do it.

Now for the China report!! She's spent the day "On Duty" down at the lagoon, as well as hollering at Harvey for going out past the shark net (BAD Harvey!!)

She's not real happy with the chainsaws....she usually spends quite a bit of time looking out the window each day, but she's not having any of it today....can't say I blame her...I'm sick of listening to them myself!!

Hope everyone is ready for a nice safe Memorial Day weekend!! Surf safely kitties!! You know how popular the water is on holiday weekends so the deputies will need to keep their eyes peeled!!

Hi Chris,
Wow, you were lucky not to get hit! I hope your roof is OK and that your neighborhood will be put together soon.

Yo Deputy China,
You are doin' a great job today. I'm glad we had a chance to watch over the lagoon together.

China's all over it today, looking fantastic! Wow those storm pics are something else... I've never seen hail with spikes before!

Oh Chris, how terrible! I'm so sorry you've had to go through this! I'm glad you and yours are all okay! A few years ago we went through a bad storm where a tree hit our house and took off the roof and two sides of the building; it was absolutely terrifying while it was happening, frightening noises, wind screaming, wood tearing and glass breaking, lightning flashing, along with electricity from downed power lines, and we were huddled in the dark in the center of the house, not even knowing what kind of damage was being done while we listened to the storm tearing our house apart. The poor cats were terrified, too, and I remember one of them literally flying over my head, looking for somewhere to get away from the noise. Needless to say, storms of any magnitude now scare me and the cats to death. The kitties were so traumatized that when the builders were here to put us back together, they were terrified of the noises the men and their tools made. Any kind of scary or unknown noise is now "roof monsters". We don't like roof monsters, either, lol! Again, I'm really glad you are all okay! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Stay safe!!! That is some wicked wind with hail. I can imagine how loud it must of been. Jerry has been under the bed it seems all week with our storms. He just hears a rumble of thunder and he is gone!!

Thanks for the visits tonight everyone!!

Yes, it sure was a crazy storm! I have always loved storms, but I don't like it when they damage people or property. Luckily though, nobody was hurt...just a lot of cleaning up to do and lots of insurance claims to file

Wow! Just wow! 100 mph straight line winds! Unbelievable. How lucky you were to be reasonably spared from the really devastating damage.

China....60's and 70's are nice. 50's....too much a tease.

Wow. This is why I couldn't live in the Plains states. Can't handle big storms and tornados terrify me I lived through one as a kid. Like you, all the houses around ours were damaged, and ours was untouched (except the power was out). It happened very early Christmas morning. We opened presents by lantern light. I'll never forget it.

I'm so glad you and the kitties are safe and your home had no damage. I'm also glad no one was hurt. Cars and homes can be replaced. People and pets can't. :bighug:

China, you look incredibly beautiful today, all in green! This despite the chaos around you. What a dedicated deputy you are! Thank you for hollering at Harvey so he came out of the shark infested waters today. He's happy to be pulling a double shift with you again!

Hey, China! I don't know what all the fuss was about. I was just fine out there. I swims great! I was just watchin' for other kitties that don't swim as well. Nothin' to worry about! Women!
