I think I figured out the possible true origin or at least a secondary origin of those sawtooth beetles.
And you aren't going to believe this....
When Shadow was diagnosed last year and the SmartBox cat litter box was advertised at the top of this page....I bought it and a huge 50 lb bag
of the recommended litter.... which is safflower seeds in a big heavy paper bag like you would buy feed.
Today we almost got the kitchen back to normal... still a few straggling items.... I bought more storage jars for all the other staples in the kitchen...
so everything is in Tupperware or glass now.... If it hatches... it's contained.
Then I went to our bathroom where I have a big closet and Shadow's litter box and I saw couple of little bugs in her water bowl ( the one she never drinks from) and I had my husband carry out the bag of safflower seed kitty litter. I will inspect it tomorrow in the sunlight.
And when I looked it up online, sawtooth beetles and most other pantry pests like safflower.
So just great.....
I have 2 more 50 lb bags in another room.....
good thing we have 2 freezers....
If I find a bunch of this little bugs in the kitty litter ( which cost me megabucks) , I'm going to transfer everything to the huge ziplock bags ( which I
already own) and put it all in the chest freezer all by itself. ( it's all I can do )
Shadow loves this cat box and the litter.... and freezing is supposed to kill them....
but ... the good news... .is this should definitely be the end of those little buggies.
And if I don't find any in the bottom of the bag, it 's still going in the Ziploc bags.
And if any of you buy bird seed ..... don't store the bags anywhere in your house or garage.....
They like that stuff too.....
There are lawsuits out there for oatmeal.... apparently they are allowing too much of the eggs/larva type stuff in our foods nowadays.
Probably because of where so much comes from overseas these days.
If you want a real eyeful.... bookmark this site to start reading....about our food .
