Yesterday: Rosy experienced some beautiful green & blue numbers all day. Started off the day in green & ended also in green, with a blue at PMPS. I believe this can be the right dose for her. I hope for an OTJ but at the meantime, having her regulated is more important. Her rear leg is still without power. Seeing her walk like a duck is really heartbreaking, although she seems quite happy with all the attention she's having now

Thankfor Serryn & Ella for your visit on yesterday's condo! Rosy is having very nice bg this round on the fat1u ( Dont prise her! or else she'll be proud & do things "reckless"! )

confused_cat Question: I am not used to having Rosy with these green numbers & is in constant fear that she will fall further low because food is not free-fed, esp during in the PM after +3, the last meal of the day. I was poking her so much more these 2 days. How r you coping with those green figures? Do we need to test that frequent ( like every other hr)to keep our kitties safe?

Today: A grey with overcast day. Very quiet at Tortieland because they had an overnight party last night! Rosy is such a good girl, finishing her LC canned breakfast as usual, despite those yummy gravy salmon last night. CPC in action!

AMPS 133 gave canned breakfast & fat1u

Re: 5/26 Rosy AMPS 133 Frequant test needed when green?

Love those nice numbers on Rosy! We test all the time. But we have two of us doing the testing. I get up early for the morning shot and tests. Anne stays up late until it looks like he is safe. We split the day duties. Zener is an unpredictable cat and can go up or down 100 points in an hour and sometimes more. So we have to stay diligent. I hope Rosy will prove to be a little more even than Zener but you just have to do the testing to see what she does. Know your cat!

Re: 5/26 Rosy AMPS 133 Frequant test needed when green?

Hi. I would treat the night just like the day time.
For instance, today, I would start with a +1 or +2, and see how those numbers compare to her AMPS. If she is going lower, then you will probably see some action today, and may need to prepare yourself for testing more frequently than normal.
At night it would be the same thing if she had a green or lower PMPS. Start with a +1 or +2 depending upon the PS number, and if she was below 100, I would probably do hourly tests until I knew or saw that she was on a surf board, and then may go to every 1 and a half as long as she was holding steady and not dropping or rising. It depends upon the numbers.
If you need advice on when to test next, just ask and we will help you.

Re: 5/26 Rosy AMPS 133 Frequent test needed when green?

I just wanted to say I know how you feel! Orange likes to do this thing at times where he drops fast and then surfs in the 50s-60s all day. While thats GREAT for him, its pretty nerve wracking for me and I end up testing him a lot. I just looked back - my personal record is 20 tests in a day. It is getting a little easier with more data though, so I have been able to back off a tad. Now I think 5-6 tests is a normal day, but I still usually go back to testing hourly if he's in the 50s.

Re: 5/26 Rosy AMPS 133 Frequent test needed when green?

I don't know if you've seen these instructions for handling low numbers. The instructions are geared toward numbers below 50 but the information will give you a sense of how to monitor.

Re: 5/26 Rosy AMPS 133 Frequent test needed when green?

Don't want to give advice on the amount of testing we do. I test as much as I think Daphne needed by what I learn from her SS. They say, ECID, so to be safe, I tested a lot at first when Daphne was all green.

Great to hear Rosy has so much green and some blue, great numbers!!

Re: 5/26 Rosy AMPS 133/ 2 92

Thanks a lot for those great advice! I will give it a serious thought on how to apply in my case. I am the only caretaker for Rosy & my rest of 21 atm. DH is not helping much with the test & insulin jabs; I think he has a "thing" with needle & blood. I'll try to get him to do again. The only time he helped; he stabbed 4 times with shaky hands to get that precious drop of blood
I dont have the energy to test during the night & to get up at 7 am to prepare for meal for the 21. Luckily both DH & me are not demanding on the food the human eat here!

AM+2 92 gave her the rest of her breakfast LC canned + salmon chunk.

Re: 5/26 Rosy AMPS 133/ 2 92

That's a big drop for +2. You'll want to test Rosy to keep her safe, maybe a +3. That's great that DH did a test! I am also one who gets queasy at the least mention of blood or anything medical but now I test Zener multiple times a day and I am soooo happy to see that nice bright red drop of blood.   It really does get better the more you do it.

Re: 5/26 Rosy AMPS 133/ 2 92

just wanted to say hi, helen. it's good to see rosy in such nice numbers. i hope her leg comes back alive - i'm sure that is heartbreaking to see her unable to use it.

Re: 5/26 Rosy AMPS 133/ 2 92

Nice green Rosy! Since ECID it is so hard to tell. Tarragon usually gives off other signs when he is going low so it is easier to catch. I don't know how you do it with so many fur babies. Hope you have a great evening!!

Re: 5/26 Rosy AMPS 133/ 2 92/ 6 130

Good Morning Helen. I also test depending on Checks numbers. Green days, may get testing every half hour to hour, depending on how low he goes. On yellow, I do only every 3 to four hours.

As Melissa said ECID. Every human is too....I'm a scaredy cat, so worry about dropping numbers. He's better on lev, but on Lantus, he was a serious diver.

Rosy is starting the day beautifully. :-D

See, Ive said dont prise my old girl Rosy or else... giving us a purple at PMPS! No, just joking. I am expecting her bounce after these 2 days of green. Maybe tonight I can rest a bit? nailbite_smile Will do a +3 & see

Oops, forgot your time and ours in the States is different.
So Helen, although we don't like the high numbers, at least you can go to sleep without worrying.

Yes, now you see the beauty of these colorful numbers!

Hi just dropping by to say hello. You've gotten a lot of good advice on testing. I just found out your name is Helen. I test Maggie more now that she's showing lower numbers. I was getting away with fewer pokes when she was high. You're doing a good job, and Rosy is lucky to have you as her Bean.

Aah...Rosy...did you really need to bounce?

I think you've gotten some good thoughts on testing, Helen. I also see it as ECID. Some kitties require more (like Gracie ahem!) because they love to give surprises. But Dyana has a good suggestion for you and you will learn to pick
up consistencies in Rosy's cycles. Some days you will be able to test less, some days more.

Have a great evening. You are such a great mama to her and all her kitty siblings!!
