Wow! What a crazy past day for Orange.

After some rising numbers on the drop of insulin I decided yesterday morning to bring him back up to 0.1 units. Please remind me never to make a dosing change decision on the fly when I am half asleep. ohmygod_smile

He dropped from AMPS of 170 to a +2 of 99, DH was gone, and I had to get to a meeting at work! What was I thinking re-upping the dose when I couldn't be here!?! I left him lots of food and got back here as soon as I could. I had to skip a few other meetings, but I was happy to see a +5 of 69 when I returned. Whew.

Then, last night at PM+3 we saw our first yellow after being in green and blue for over 3 weeks! :-x Either he dropped really low in the AM cycle when I wasn't here and this was a bounce or he got into something he shouldn't have. I'm thinking he got into something since this morning he threw up some unidentifiable blob. It didn't look like his food or a hairball, but I have no idea what it could be or where he could have gotten it from.

Oh well, yay for the long weekend! Now I'm home for the next few days to keep a close eye on him, so we'll sort all of this out :smile:

Hi guys .. well don't beat yourself up to badly! If this yellow is a bounce it's obviously a short lived one and orange is right back on track :-D hope you guys have a great holiday weekend!

OMG! I figured out what the unidentifiable blob was.... a mouse! Or at least half of one. We found the other half lying in the middle of the floor. Orange has killed a fair share of mice in his days but this is the first time he's actually eaten one! He always just plays with them and bats them around until they are dead and he is bored. I wonder what made him finally realize that they are edible. Do mice increase BG? I thought they were all protein?

Mice are all protein, but maybe them have some corn in their tummies!

My Neko just plays with any mice she has caught (thankfully very few) but I expect since FD she'd do the same as Orange.

Good luck on the monitoring this weekend.

Yuck! But good food for a diabetic and normal to throw up the fur.
 
Well, I got a little scare tonight.

DH took Orange's PMPS reading tonight. A shocked look came over his face and he said Orange was at 22. Yikes! Panic Mode! I started running around the house grabbing his food and mixing up some Karo in it and shouting out to DH to test him again. Second test came back = 107. Whew, thats more like it! Bad test strip for scaring me like that!

Did I mention we had a guest over that got to watch this whole scene? :-D
 
Sounds like some good entertainment for your guest. You might want to consider a cover charge next time :lol:

Hi Julie,

I need to come visit you more often. I laughed out loud imagining your friend's face when your DH thought he had a 22 & you both went into action & then explained it was a false alarm. :lol: I did the same thing today with a real 36 but luckily no witnesses. :lol:

The mouse would have really freaked me out too. Orange has kept you on your toes, hasn't he? Calli used to catch them but she never ate them, at least that I know of at any rate. :razz: She would bring whole dead bodies to us like they were presents.Great numbers from Orange. Keep it up.

I have to go get ready for Racci's pmps. TTYL.
