Good morning. What did Jezebel eat for breakfast.....a big bowl of pasta. :mrgreen:
I am wondering if the AMPS number may be wrong.

She had one of the wet foods from the food chart...Friskies Tuna. 1/4 of a large can. Again, she's not a
big eater. So 1/4 of a can is alot for her.
I have a feeling the first number was incorrect as well. Now I'm questioning my glucose meter.
Is there one that is preferred? I have the Bayer Contour.

I am not familiar with your meter. I use the Accu-Chek Aviva. The strips are a little more expensive ( I order them from Hocks.com) but I have always used this meter and have been happy with it. I know a lot of people use Relion which I believe is Walmart's brand......the strips are less expensive.

Maybe your meter is a goner. My Dad, who has diabetes, was posting high #'s last week. When he went to the dr. his bg was within normal range. Turns out the meter needed to be replaced. I would check it out, and maybe check your test strips.

Just wondering but when did she have the foods, the time, and what was the amps time?
Also, what's Jez's nadir? Oliver is low right at ps then shoots way up sometimes, but that's just him. Maybe that amps was wrong because the +2 seems closer to the +1

As for the meter, I have 3 at the moment, so if one goes wonky, I have a backup.
Two of them are OneTouch, so I don't have to worry about different strips.
I also have a Precision Xtra as you can get BG/ketone strips for it, but i prefer the OTU because they both need very little blood and draw up the strips quickly. The Precision takes twice as long to get up to the strip and register.
Or you could just get another like the one you have if you like it.

She was tested at 6 am, fed and injected at the same time. I'm still not sure what a nadir is. Her numbers have been inconsistent.

nice +2, can you get a +3?

What might be happening is she might be bouncing off of the early drops she has had, or bouncing off of the blue and green numbers (she probably went lower than 186 last night, though probably not a lot lower, but it still could be enough to make her bounce a little). Tonight you shot a dropping number as the bounce was clearing out, so she might continue to drop. Getting a +3 will help us catch that if we need to stop the drop. Her bounces are clearing out quickly, and that is very good. :smile:

I have some EVO low carb treats I can give her...I'll first see if she'll eat a little of the tuna.

I'd see if she'll eat regular food. You'd have to give her lots and lots of treats.... Oh, what am I saying? Of course she'll eat treats!
 
She's inhaling the Evo Herring & Salmon formula dry food. She is
ravenous! I've given her about 1 tbs....should I give her more?

no, she doesn't need dry food. A little low carb wet food would be better. We're not looking to raise her numbers, just looking to keep them where they are now (76 is perfect!).
 
She rejected the wet food soundly so I gave her some cooked chicken.
I'll check her again at +4 (30 min from now).

what food to leave out depends on the number, but usually low carb canned is good. If you're thinking she could drop again, then you could leave a medium carb canned.
