Unfortunately, my vet called with the news that Simon does indeed have a UTI so he is now on Clavamox for 5 days. I was hoping he was not going to have one so we could start him on Prednisone for the probable intestinal lymphoma, but now we will have to wait. Both meds will do a number on Simon's tummy and he already is not eating that well. He is eating about 1/2 the amount of food and I am syringe feeding him the rest. In addition to that he is getting fluids every day, cerenia daily, and Pepcid, Ondansetron, and Buperenex 2x/day. Juggling all these meds and syringe feedings, plus his 2x/day insulin, is crazy, especially when I am working almost 10 hours a day. Thank goodness for DH. He makes sure he comes home to do insulin and fluids when I can' make it home by 6:00. He can't do pilling or syringe feeding. Simon just doesn't cooperate. I think it is because I am left handed and DH is right handed. I always pill from the left of Simon's mouth and he is used to the routine. Doesn't understand why DH is trying it with the other hand!
Diabetes is a piece of cake to manage compared to all this! I feel very overwhelmed but I hope that once we start on the Pred, Simon's appetite will get better and he will want to start eating more.
Through everything, Simon still loves his mamabean and wants to give me snuggles. That is the best part.
