Unfortunately, my vet called with the news that Simon does indeed have a UTI so he is now on Clavamox for 5 days. I was hoping he was not going to have one so we could start him on Prednisone for the probable intestinal lymphoma, but now we will have to wait. Both meds will do a number on Simon's tummy and he already is not eating that well. He is eating about 1/2 the amount of food and I am syringe feeding him the rest. In addition to that he is getting fluids every day, cerenia daily, and Pepcid, Ondansetron, and Buperenex 2x/day. Juggling all these meds and syringe feedings, plus his 2x/day insulin, is crazy, especially when I am working almost 10 hours a day. Thank goodness for DH. He makes sure he comes home to do insulin and fluids when I can' make it home by 6:00. He can't do pilling or syringe feeding. Simon just doesn't cooperate. I think it is because I am left handed and DH is right handed. I always pill from the left of Simon's mouth and he is used to the routine. Doesn't understand why DH is trying it with the other hand!

Diabetes is a piece of cake to manage compared to all this! I feel very overwhelmed but I hope that once we start on the Pred, Simon's appetite will get better and he will want to start eating more.

Through everything, Simon still loves his mamabean and wants to give me snuggles. That is the best part.

I'm sorry about the UTI. I hope he will get over it quickly and the AB won't bother his tummy very much. It's great our kitties are so forgiving and love us so much. Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug:

Sending prayers for a very speedy recover...what a sweet boy. I know what you mean about the routine...my DH can do a lot, but not the pilling or assist-feeding, either. Feel better Simon!

Prayers for a quick recovery and hoping the infection explains the poor appy.

Probiotics often help prevent tummy upset from antibiotics. A good one is country life acidophilus with pectin non-dairy. It comes highly recommended on the FPS board. You can use it yourself as well if you ever need one. I used it with Tiffany and sprinkled a little in her food 3-4 times a day.

Forti Flora is good, too. Some kitties love it. I have two that do and two that don't. The ones that don't get it in a gelcap.

The Pred should help his appy - it has certainly helped Sasha's and Harvey's! Is the reason you don't want to give the Pred and Clavamox together tummy upset? With all the tummy meds you're giving, I wouldn't think that would be a problem. Sasha got both at once, and I wasn't even giving her tummy meds. She did fine. But ECID and you know Simon best.

My DH is the same way. He claims he could do the fluids if he had to, but I doubt it. Thank goodness he does the insulin, though!

Sending tons of healing and appy vines for Simon and :bighug::bighug::bighug: for you.
