Howdy Folks,
I have been on almost every day checking in on you all but not able to post as much
due to work .
I dont really update on Shakes cause he is unfortunately still the same
I can;t get his numbers down at all
I raise and I decrease and it is the same.....
My vet gave me a script for Levemir so I will be starting that soon
I am just petrified because I use the U100 needles and I am so used to giving 7 or 8 units
that I am so afraid I will overdose him.... nailbite_smile
anyway...wishing you all great numbers and I will talk to you soon
Denise and shakes

Denise: I check my syringe at least two times before I inject. After I have filled it. Then before I actually shoot. I tend to fill my syringe before I test Pumbaa, that way the insulin warms up in the few minutes it takes to test. Also, if I'm tired, it gives me a chance to get away from the syringe and come back fresh and check for air bubbles, correct dose, etc.

I also use a dry erase board on my fridge door to track BG numbers and dose for the day. That helps me a lot, too, since I test, feed and shoot in the kitchen.

You'll be fine. Just create your own checks and balances. :)

I get the insulin out before I test and hold it in my hand, but don't fill until after I test since we use a sliding scale. I check my syringe multiple times, too. Doug just fills, checks quick and shoots. I'm a little too OCD to do that ;-) ...well, that and afraid it's not 'just right.'

We will miss you, Denise, but I hope the change is just the ticket for Shakes.

Take care -

Libby (and Hershey, too!)

I hope Lev works well for you guys Denise. You have been at this longer than us on PZ so it’s way worth a try.
As always, sending you and Shakes all the best! :YMHUG:

Thanks everyone,
Shakes has been on PZI for One year and one month
He has done so much better on PZI than Lantus
but we still have 350 to 550 preshots whether I go up or down
I dont think he can take this anymore so I think I have to change
Thanks for all the advice though!

Hey Denise, I try to check in everday also but don't post much. I'm usually reading from work. I just ordered Lev for Thumper. She's still bouncing a lot on Lantus. She had a dental about 3 weeks ago & that didn't help, she almost seems worse. I think her hip causes her trouble also though. I hope the Lev works for Shakes!

Denise I completely understand wanting to change. If you don't you will never know. You have to do the best for Shakes. If that means a change in insulin then that's what you have to do.

Please come back & visit us here in ProZinc. Keep us updated on Shakes.
I will miss you posting your positive comments for Baxter. Thank you they always made me feel good.

I wish you the best of luck! :YMHUG:

Wishing Shakes the best with the insulin change.
I hope you get some good results with Lev.
We will miss you; please don't be a stranger, your'e a big part of our little PZI family and we all appreciate your help and encouragement very much.
