Hello
I thought I would show you the latest member of the house..... although she has to stay in my son's room for probably the next 6 months.

She is the middle cat.
She's been here 2 nights, just finally let my son touch her last night.
She's been shuffled around twice this week so she's a bit shell shocked from too much transition and we are giving her time to adjust.

She will have 2 bedrooms to roam most of the time but she and Shadow will probably never meet in person.
Shadow is the alpha in this house, over the dogs too, and Shadow tends to be aggressive when another cat is accessible.
This kitten would probably challenge her and win since she's so young.

My son is supposed to graduate next December and hopefully get a job which would mean he will be moving. But he had been without a cat for 18 months and he
talked us into it. (mostly because he wanted a ferret or a chinchilla or a muntjac ( teeny tiny barking deer)

Appasrently you can litter box train these tiny deer but it sounds like a better pet for an indoor/outdoor life. I don't think I could handle it living inside only.
So he won by presenting us with radical type pets that we don't really want.
I had lots of exotic pets when I was a child so I remember lots of difficulties.
How many apartments are going to let him move in with a deer?

Hi Rhiannon ~O) ~O) ~O)

Well, very cool! She is a beauty, and very very pretty. The arrangements sound like a good plan, and I hope it works for everyone. Since Shadow is an alpha, best to keep them separate. Good luck!

omg on the deer... right you are, not many appts would cater to that. :-D

Have a great day today. I hope all goes well.

I had to Google Muntjacs, they don't seem like an indoor only pet, but cute.

The new kitty is very pretty. Are you going to keep the name?
I hope both Shadow and the new kitten adjust well with all the new smells.

What a cutie! I'm sure she is just being cautious and will be a cuddler before very long. :-D What is her name? Another reason not to get a muntjac: they cost $800 or $1000.

What an adorable kitten - she will grow into a beautiful cat. Congrats on the new addition.

You are wise to keep her away from Shadow, although I suspect Shadow will eventually figure out there is a strange kitty on the premises. I hope you are able to keep the peace!

What a cute kitty. I hope she settles down and adjusts to her new home soon. It does sound like a good idea to keep Shadow separated. I've never heard of a muntjac before.

her name isn't going to be Mudra ( moo- dra)

but I think he's thinking along the lines of Mu Mu...
or I prefer Mew ( like Pokémon)

I told him a mu mu was a fat dress..... don't name her that.....

VERY cute kitten! Not as pretty as Shadow of course - hope she doesn't get jealous.

A ferret would have been OK, I've seen them get along with cats. Chinchillas can be smelly. I can't imagine having a barking deer in a house with a dog. A cat is a much better choice.
