hi all,
praying for Linda and MJ....and sending prayers to the kitties that are in dentals today and/or are not feeling well....

i stayed up most of the night....after his bupe dose (which i gave him a little extra just in case) he settled and about 2:20 he got up and i made sure he ate some...this morning he woke me up but at 5 am....and he was not persistent like in the past...only two meows and that was it....

i gave him fluids but less than usual....i think it must have been 80 cc if that....hope that helps him still....his breathing seems fine and i couldn't take his bp...will attempt that today....

today is a long weekend here so DH is home....so when it came time to give Rocket his last round of meds (8am)...i crashed and since DH was up....i gave instructions to keep an eye on Rocket....it's almost 10:30 and dh says Rocket ate at 9 am....how much did he give Rocket...no idea...how much did Rocket eat....i don't know that either....Rocket is sleeping....in his corner....in the living room...that became his place when he moved out of the tub a while back....

so overall...not the greatest news but better than yesterday....

AMPS 293 (the highest i've seen in a while and no temptations in here).....

depending on how he does the rest of the day i will probably make the apt to bring him into the vet tomorrow....i hope he starts somewhat perking up....

thanks for your prayers and well wishes....we still need them....

Re: 5/23 Rocket AMPS 293

Hi guys,

I'm hoping your boy starts to feel better soon, sounds like he's having a better day than yesterday.

Get better Rocket!

Re: 5/23 Rocket AMPS 293

Sounds like Rocket is a little better today and is eating a little. Still praying for y'all and hoping that Rocket starts doing a little better each hour and that no vet visit will be needed. Glad to hear that DH is home to help today.

Re: 5/23 Rocket AMPS 293

glad he's better than yesterday! maybe he will perk up and won't need the vet appt. it's hard to see your little guy not feeling good.

Re: 5/23 Rocket AMPS 293

went out to stock up on diff kinds of food in case he decides to stop eating on me....bought him this little toy and decided to test and see if he was interested....he played less than 3 mins if that...but that has made my afternoon....not sure if it's short lived but i take what he gives me....

i am keeping a close eye on his breathing still though...that part is making me uneasy...i really don't want fluid build up in his lungs :(

Re: 5/23 Rocket AMPS 293

What a great video! I think it's a good sign that he took some interest in playing, even if it was for a short while. He looks good.

Re: 5/23 Rocket AMPS 293

I think he looks cute and beautiful, too. Thanks for the video. That's great that he's playing. That's more than J.D. does.

Keeping you and Rocket in my prayers, Claudia.

PMPS 189
he ate some food at ps time

QUESTIONS:

TO: anyone that has gone thru fluid build up in the lungs with their kitties

1) what sort of symptons to look for besides the breathing reps?
2)do they have trouble walking?
3)sleeping patterns...do they change?

i count Rocket's breathing reps while he is resting....averaging 20-22 reps/min and sometimes 24 reps/min...he is walking a little slower lately...

any advise in this will be greatly appreciated...

Claudia - I posted on facebook. I think anything in the low 20s like that is a very good RRR. I only have experience with Nike and fluid retention in the lungs.

The video of Rocket playing made my night!!! He is so freaking adorable!!!!

Claudia: aaah....Rocket....he's the man!! It's so great to watch him play!!!

On fluid buildup, we had a kitty with congestive heart failure (getting squids for kidneys) and she was breathing much faster than that but I don't remember the number; seems to me 20s is good. It was really, really noticeable but no other changes. She was 21 so she slept alot anyway but she didn't walk funny.

Keeping you all in our prayers. Rocket...you're a fighter...this is a blip.

thanks Karrie and Marjorie....
i too hope it's a blip

i just want to make sure i know what to look for should we head that route with him....just wondering...i've been trying to read as much as possible but i think sometimes it's best to ask those who have had experience with it rather than reading articles with all those long terms

Claudia, the video of Rocket made me so happy! It is definitely a good sign for him to show any interest in playing. He is just the cutest, fuzzy kitty. It must be hard not to always want to hug him.

My cat Boots (GA), had fluid in his lungs when he was so sick with cancer. He didn't walk funny but just seemed very tired all the time and mostly sat in one position for hours. His breathing was not that irregular. He did have these strange sneezes that he would do. Lots of them all in a row. Not sure if that is something that others have experienced.

I hope you will be able to get some rest this evening. Hugs to your family.

Copper just had the fluid build up--he had breathing reps of 40 one day!--20 seem normal and not bad at all.
I also was feeding him baby food which helped..Believe me, when they are really sick, playing is not one of the things on their mind, and Rocket looks very good to me in that lovely video..
Prayers from the heart from us constantly being said for your dear beautiful Rocket boy--Hugs & Love you!!
Hope tomorrow is better!!!

Hi ((((((Claudia & Rocket))))))

Rocket is so darn handsome :dizcat .

It seems to me we had to count Witty's breathing
at one time, and like everyone else 22 was the goal, so I was always relieved when it was in the low 20's.

I think of you guys often and am so glad your DH was able to spend the day at home with you guys. I hope Comet is doing well also.

Sending hugs and lots of prayers.

Thank you all for your well wishes...I tend to question everything I see/don't see in Rocket. I know at his age and the multiple illnesses I can't expect him to be perky all the time...with the pred and the cancer and his subq fluids it has always made me nervous the water retention/build up in the body/lungs...so I question his every position he sleeps on...
Today he was a little better but I can tell something is up...gut feeling

Also the slight and subtle changes in his behaviour...

Morning, Claudia,
I know what you mean about "gut feeling." We know them so well, even the most subtle changes are noticeable. I am sending a special prayer up for Rocket this morning. He is such a beautiful boy! Loved, loved, loved the video, too. :-D

Love the video! I never noticed how much Rocket looks like Abby...they'd be twins if Abby were gray!

Here's hoping you get many more "playing" videos!!

Claudia, I'm glad to see a condo for Rocket...even if I'm late getting to it! I am no help with the medical stuff, it's all outside my experience, other than the 22 RR sounds good....but I'm keeping you guys in my thoughts and hoping that Rocket keeps going strong like he has been! You are so in tune to him, and you do such a great job managing all his issues....I hope you are taking time for Claudia, too!

LOVE the video!! cat_pet_icon So cute to see him playing, and he looks great!
