happy boy, as usual. tested, shot, finished his plate, now finishing anya's plate. we love our membership in the Clean Plate Club! :-D anya is already on to chasing a toy and punkin's next stop is to sharpen his claws on the carpet. so funny how they have their daily routine.

the bean is a little tired today but after all, it is monday.

off to the vet's in 2 hours for a blood draw for iaa/acro - we'll know by the end of the week. i'm also going to check with the pharmacist about this pen and see what she says.

So glad to hear Punkin is always so happy, and so helpful with the dishes!

Good luck with the vet visit, and with the pharmacist. It definitely seems if something suspicious is up with that pen...

Morning - nice WCR for the kitties. clean plate club membership intact! morning routines intact! Mine are the same - they all have theirs too. :cool:

Good morning all! Glad to hear Punkin is his normal happy self. Consistency is wonderful. He is always so helpful to Anya as well. Good luck on the acro test!

Good luck on the testing today!!!! I hope it turns out just like you want. Champ uses the carpet as his scratching post, too. Drives me crazy cuz it's new carpet and he only has a gazillion scratching posts and those cardboard scratching things on the ground. Oh well, I clip his nails every week so it keeps the damage down.

well, i know this is sorta silly to get excited about, but as everything is relative with the FD, this is the lowest number he's had in 3 days. now i'm wondering if it's not that the lantus itself is bad, that perhaps the dose was wonky with the bubble factor. i'm not convinced the lantus isn't bad, but i may give it another day to see what happens.

there is still an enormous bubble floating around in there, and this morning there must've been 50 little ones clinging to the sides - that just somehow doesn't seem right to me.

I don't think it's silly at all.. every victory is a victory, no matter how big or small!

I so wish there was a way to know for sure when the insulin is bad, other than "wonky numbers", since wonky numbers can bee attributed to just about anything. It's frustrating, that's for sure...

I think the bubble and little bubbles are cause to return the pen. Look carefully at the new one before you buy it!! Best of luck with the blood draw, Punkin. Be a good boy at the vets. The KTSS will come along later to help get the vetty smell off.

i guess they had to draw a lot of blood - 10 ml - the front of his neck was all wet with alcohol, but we survived.

also he's back on clindamycin for another round. that same spot is still reddened from the upper tooth hitting it. doesn't look infected but it could still be part of the problem.

i made a little video of him and anya yesterday that i uploaded while we were gone. of course, i'm the mama so i think it's cute, but perhaps others will enjoy it too. first they're washing, then watch anya's tail and you can see when she's ready to attack. she is such a princess. of course punkin at twice her size and with more experience ends up the victor. he's off to enjoy his success with the nanners. that's the cliff notes version of the typical post breakfast fun. :lol:

Awwww Julie, big fluffy kitties!!! They are so adorable....poor Anya got her butt kicked. And the victorious gets the nanners! Did you notice he winked at you towards the end after the fight, as if to say "of course I won".

Well that's no good the vet put Punkin back on ab...hopefully you'll get some answers from those blood tests.

OMG that video made my day!!!!!!!!!!! I wish Henry and Victoria were buddies like that. How old were they when they were introduced to each other? Did they like each other from day 1? What an adorable video and the nanner ending was adorable too.

I am wishing his gums clear right up.

That has got to be the cutest video! I just love how Punkin gives Anya a nice bath and then she gets all mad at him. So ungrateful! Of course Punkin was victorious in the end. So cute with the nanners, too!

Hope punkin gets better soon.

punkin's just turning 13ish and we've had anya since august 2009, so 21 months. she was 3 months old when we got her, kinda sickly with chronic diarrhea. i suspect that's why she's so small. we had her on vet intestinal formula dry food to deal with the diarrhea, but she's better on the FF than on the dry prescription food.

when we got punkin, he was around a year old and we had felix who was around 5 or 6. punkin immediately bonded with felix and they were great buddies.

felix died about 2 years before we got anya, so i think punkin was ready to have another friend. anya was drawn to him, probably to bug him! it didn't take them too long to become friends, but they're not always like that in the video. most of the day they do their own things, with a little daily wrestling most days that punkin feels normal.

well i don't think i'm going to have any luck with the pharmacy and the pen. they acted like it was my fault because i was using a syringe and inserting it into the pen. it's not supposed to be used that way, so i suspect i'm going to be out of luck. the pharmacist is calling the manufacturer this afternoon, so that will no doubt be the end of it. i think i'm going back to my regular pharmacy and switching back to a vial. at this dose he'll go through the entire vial before it goes bad anyway.

we're back to giving him clindamycin - if this round of AB doesn't clear it up, i'm not sure what the next step is. the problem is the upper tooth is hitting the lower gum where the teeth were extracted. how are you supposed to keep it from hitting, put in a denture? pull out the upper tooth?

That stinks about the pen. With Punkin being on such a high dose, though, you're right...it may actually be more economical for you to go with the vial than the pens anyway.

I've been on the fence about getting the pens, and about using the mail-order pharmacies. More and more, I'm feeling comfortable with sticking to the vials and getting them from Target which, around here, has the best price by far.

I hope this round of ABs does the trick. Is the gum actually infected, or is it just red because of irritation? I wonder if the redness is just something he's going to have for a while, until that gum gets used to the new/different tooth situation.

Sorry that Punkin tooth is irritating the gum line....What does the Vet say?

he's saying we'll re-evaluate after another 10 days on the AB. it's not infected, it's just red, although not nearly what it was at the beginning of all of it. he might be treating it because i'm running the cat in there all the time and he's trying to do extra-well for us. maybe if it weren't punkin, he'd be more "let's see how it looks in a couple of weeks" instead of starting AB's again. i thought it would develop a callus where the upper tooth is hitting, but not yet. he's eating just fine and he isn't sensitive to scritches or anything - i don't think it hurts, but who knows.

yeah furry all right! :lol: i should take another video of the carpet after they've had their wrestling going on. they leave hunks of fur behind and the dust bunnies just take off!

Julie, seems as though you've had another fun filled adventurous day in Punkin land.. I absolutely LOVEEEEEEEEEED!!! the video. I just want to woozle them and rub there little furry bellies..
I see the laters numbers have come down nicely.. I' really sorry to hear about his mouth. That's a really good question about the tooth rubbing on the gum.. How does that ever stop hurting.. I hope the new round of AB's clear it up right quick..

i'm encouraged that his numbers have responded today - the last several days were so flat. this makes me think maybe the insulin is ok. the pharmacist called lantus and ultimately she applied the pen you're supposed to use and got the bubbles out. they said that the insulin isn't hurt by the bubbles - and i suppose a vial has a lot of air in it, so maybe we're all right.

we'll keep using it and see what happens. i did reorder a vial from our usual pharmacy and am going to switch back to that after this pen.

What a neat video of your kitties! They are so cute, and have really loving expressions despite the kitty "tussles". I hope that Punkin's gum will stop being irritated by that tooth. Good luck with the blood tests.

:-D glad you've all enjoyed it. i'm a sucker for a furry face & love it when people post videos - especially on here, because it helps me get to "know" the cats and then they aren't just names.

promise i won't post too often because, well, they are cats and they only have so many cute things they do. i think i just ran through their repertoire! :lol:

heehee, punkin chowed down on the pill pockets! i feel better since, if you recall, on day 19/20 of the last round he decided he liked them and i got to stop poking them down his throat. i'm going to enjoy it every single time he sucks one of those up now! :lol:
