5/23 Moonie just back from vet emerg visit! Prayers please !

Moonie had good numbers today & was well, playing eating & happy--I went out from 12-3:45-
Came home & Moonie was staggering, looked very wobbly, and legs seemed totally screwed up-
She walked on her hocks but wobbled weakly so called DH & went to vet--

Vet took blood, urine, checked ears & body, heart etc, not sure what it was, whether she hurt herself, or ear infection, or could be neurological, but we are dealing with the obvious first-
She gave me bupe, if I see her in pain, Adequan(canine) which I think I will start when I am home for whole day, and Baytril for her ears(could be inner ear infection)..We opted to not do xrays of her heart lungs & tummy right now...Want to see where this treatment leads us--She said Moonie has very good QOL & sees her hopefully getting better--The tests will show us--She did lose a few ounces, but she IS 16.
That's why we did another T4, just to check-
My DA will be having surgery on her intestines tomorrow to remove adhesions in there...Praying for that too.
All in all a terrible day--
Please Please Say Prayers for Moonie That she recovers from this--and say One for my DA, she really needs it!

(((Roni))) how scary for you to come home and find Moonie in that state. You got her in right away and sounds like they did a good checkup. Sending lots of healing vines and prayers for sweet Moonie and for good results of her tests.

Oh NO!!! Sending prayers and white light and all sorts of vines for Moonie! Sixteen isn't that old and it came on so suddenly. Could she have gotten into that Calla Lily? I just looked it up and the symptoms don't fit.

Roni I hope it is something simple and the medicines take care of it quickly. I want you and Moonie to have lots of hugs and play time for years to come.

What a tough day for you. And I will keep your DA in my thoughts tomorrow for her surgery.

She is just resting in the bedroom but yells when she wants me-She was walking better since we are home, but not her normal,,She has been bouncing around a lot lately & I wonder if she hurt herself? She was on the window sill & table watching the birds just this am!
Right now she is just sitting on the bed, not sleeping..figured the Baytril would make her tired but no--Then she ate the second she got home, but not dinner as yet...She is flicking her ears all about as they really flushed them out good.--Hope she will be better tomorrow, dont know how I will sleep tonite.

Vet tech said she looks so good for 16...Hope she feels better, my sweet baby..It hurts so much when our babies are sick! My Heart hurts,,And so much for my DA...

Dear Roni & Moonie,
We are sending tons of love, hugs, healing vines, and positive thoughts to Moonie. It's good that she is feeling a little better. I was wondering about the cala lily, too, but Ann says the symptoms are wrong for that. I hope our Moonie didn't hurt herself and that by tomorrow she will be A-OK. Try not to worry too much, Roni. Moonie needs you to be your positive self; you are her rock.

I hope that your DA's surgery will go well and that she will be feeling better soon, too.

Oh no, poor Moonie, that is the scariest thing to come home to. I know, it happened a few times in my life with kitties. It sounds a little more promising, at least she ate when she got home. I hope she will continue to improve through the night.

I will be thinking of your DA also tomorrow.

If she is on Baytril and what I know from Rocket...he stops eating so I have to syringe feed him...keep a close eye that she gets enough calories to fight whatever is going on.....

Oh Roni! What a terrible thing to come home to! I'm so sorry you all are going through all this and your aunt on top of it. I'm so glad Moonie's doing better now! I wonder what could have happened to her so suddenly?

My first thought was like Ann's, the cala lily, but now I'm thinking maybe an insect bite? Do you get spiders or have a lot of bees or wasps around your house? I know the rain is driving them indoors here and I'm constantly worried that Racci will get bit or stung. Something like that could upset her equilibrium also. It's hard to see with a longhair black cat but maybe you could check her body carefully while you're petting her.

I'll be sending healing thoughts and wishes to Moonie and your Aunt and hoping all goes well with her operation tomorrow. Please keep us updated on sweet little Moonie.

Just a thought....are you 100% positive she did not get into your calla lily at all? It might be worth mentioning to the vet.

She never did get that stupid lily, plus she hardly has any teeth, so it would make a big hole in the leaf if she bit it with her alligator gums!! :lol: I would see it!!
She is better tonite & doing her regular moves--I am watching like a hawk for her wobbly walk, but havent seen it(Thank God!!) She is acting kinda normal except her head flicking of the ears--
Geez those ears werent cleaned out ever like that!! She was in shock I think!
Hope the ABs do the trick--Never had Baytril..
She's not eating that great yet--gave her a few temptations 6 tonite as she is 116 at +5..She sure ate those.
Really LL & all friends here Thank you--Prayers for her continued recoup..Tests will be in I will call Saturday..want to talk to my vet only..

Just seeing this now, wow what a night!!!! I hope everything is okay and she bounces back to her perky 16 year old self. Big hugs to both of you.

I've read that every part of a lily is poisonous even if they lick the middle of the flower. I won't bring a cut bulb plant in the house.

Wondering about you all this morning....hope Moonie's still doing better.

Baytril - I use Baytril for Snowshoe when he gets one of his ear infections or URI's. He can't take Amox but the Baytril seems to work better for him anyway.

Roni, I hope dear Moonie is doing better today. When my kitty Cleo has been on Baytril, it upsets her stomach a little and she doesn't eat as well. Simon on the other hand, had no problem. ECID,

Praying for continued healing and complete recovery.
