I'm late, but I thought I'd better give Lucy an oldtimers condo this week. She's doing great, her last test was a couple of weeks ago and she hit the 50's for I think the first time since she has been OTJ. Of course it doesn't hurt that I used the meter that I know runs a little low, but I've decided I really like that meter for her OTJ tests. If you don't like your numbers, buy a new meter. Lucy is hilarious, as always. She’s starting to jump again, so I keep finding her in places I don’t expect. I’ve also had to start being careful again about where I leave the chicken treats, now that she can get onto the counter again.

Thursday after work I got to meet Nina (KB's mom) on Hilton Head. She was there on vacation, and I work there sometimes, so I was able to get down there while she was visiting. We had a great time sitting by the water chatting. It was like we had known each other for years (which I guess we have!).

The reason Lucy needed a condo today is that by next weekend, she'll have to start sharing the billing...

We're getting a foster sugar kitty! I've been volunteering for Siamese Cat Rescue for several years. After working so much with Donna/Connor here, and after going to Spring Training at the Rescue earlier this month and meeting Jazzy there, I decided to apply to foster to see if I can help her feel better. Jazzy is about 10 years old and has been in and out of Siamese Rescue since 2006. She was diagnosed as diabetic after her previous owners returned her to rescue in March 09. She had another brief adoption that didn't work out. She has been back at the rescue center since August. She has been on Lantus, PZI, Lantus again, ProZinc, and now PZI again (I'll be switching her to Lantus or Lev as soon as she gets here). She has been on doses as high as 10u BID of Lantus, and is now getting 6.5u BID of PZI. She is mostly in the 400’s still. I’m hoping some of that might be related to her environment – the cats at the Center are in group living during the day, and caged at night. Jazzy is not fond of other cats, and she is not fond of cages, so hopefully moving to a house with only 3 other cats will work better for her. She’s a sweet kitty who has had a rough life, and I’m looking forward to trying to get her fixed up so she can find a family that will really appreciate her for the rest of her life.

I’m sure Lucy will not be thrilled to share her Lantus Land neighbors with another seal point girl, but maybe she’ll learn to see herself as a mentor. I need to make good use of all the things I learned from Lucy, and what better way than to help another Meezer. Jazzy will be arriving on Thursday.

Congratulations Libby, that's wonderful! I'm sure Lucy will appreciate the fact that you are helping another kitty like you did her. It will also help that the chicken treats will be comming out several times a day and she will get one too for doing absolutly nothing! Hope Jazzy settles in quickly and gets her FD under control so she can find a furever home. Look forward to seeing some pictures of her, oh wait ...she looks just like Lucy

Oh Libby!! Jazzy couldn't have had any better luck!!
How wonderful of you!!
She'll have the best foster Mom ever!

And it's great to hear that Lucy is doing so wonderful!!!

Congratulations on Lucy's wonderful numbers and on the new arrival! We'll want to hear all about her.

I've never been owned by a Siamese, but I've always been interested in one.

Congratulations on getting Jazzie. Although she's had a rough life so far, her luck must be changing if she's joining you and your kitties. I hope it works out. Glad to hear that Lucy is doing so well.

Libby that's a great thing you are about to do for Jazzy. Good luck with better regulation for her - and good luck with the introductions to the rest of the gang. Glad to hear that Lucy continues to do so well.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! and congratulations. Kudos to you too. Jazzy will be very fortunate to have you. Oh - you must post some photos too! Just very cool news!!!!! :RAHCAT

Wow, so many LL Moms getting together these days. It sounds like you had a great visit.

Congrats! What some people won't do to get a daily condo! Jazzy finally hit the jackpot by finding you. She is in good hands from now on. (maybe she has already found her furever home?) I can't wait to hear how she does and to see some photos! You have a good heart. I admire people like you and Gayle who can find it in themselves to take on another diabetic cat. Welcome home, Jazzy!

great WCR and what wonderful news! Congratulations on the new foster kitty .. I hope you can work your magic on her!

and... it's always fun to read Lucy updates!

I am so happy to hear that Lucy is doing so great, Libby! Also, congratulations on your new Foster-to-be! Jazzy is a lucky lucky kitty! I'm so glad she found you.

Congrats on the new "foster" kitty!! I'm glad Jazzy's luck seems to have changed for the better.

Lucy Lou might be happily distracted with some extra treats and snuggles with your shoes or something.

What fantastic news! I am so happy and excited for you and for Jazzy.
How lucky for Jazzy to be getting everything sorted out at your place.

It's great to hear that Lucy is doing so well at keeping you on your toes now and I am sure that given a bit of time, she will be ok with Jazzy.

Double congratulations Libby.
Wonderful news for Lucy and your new addition Jazzy.
She is a beauty and sooooooooooooo lucky to be coming home to you.
I have seen her pciture on the rescue site as I have been on it many times.
DH loves siamese and even made an inquiry. Getting to Canada not that easy though.

Looking forward to seeing Libby & Jazzy condos!!!

Oh yes, this is wonderful news! What a great post to read

And a great decision. Can't wait to see Jazzy's condo!

Libby,

That is great news on Jazzie. It's kind of exciting isn't it. You get to use all the knowledge you have to help another kitty. You are giving her a new lease on life.

So glad to hear that Lucy is doing so well. She's going to be jealous at first, having to share her mom. But I'm sure you already had the talk with her.

Good luck with the new one.

Libby!!! What a great post! So glad to hear that Lucy is doing so well....that is funny about the new meter that reads lower! And how wonderful that you are going to bring Jazzy into your life and your home like that!

I am SO happy for her...and for you. She is really fortunate at last! You are the BEST Mama and she will do so much better in your home with you all. It must be a nightmare for her where she is now.

I just know that the next 10 years of her life are going to be the BEST ones and she is going to wonder why on earth she wasn't with you from day one! I am so happy and wish you all the very best!!! :YMHUG:

Lantus Land Is Rolling out the Red Carpet for our New Arrival Jazzy, from our beloved Libby & Lucy, who are gratefully opening up their hearts to her! What a lucky Kitty to have such great things happening for her..
Lucy sounds like she is doing wonderfully!! That makes Us so Happy!! Hugs to you both!

Can't wait to see Jazzy in her new condo, I'm so excited for your household. I hope the introductions go well. Who knows, maybe Lucy will enjoy having a newbie around.

Thanks again for making such an effort to get together while I was in South Carolina. It did feel like old friends getting together. KB says to thank Lucy for the purrs she sent to him, he added them to his own and was super loud our first night home.

Soooooooo happy to hear Lucy is doing swell :thumbup
Libby.. you are the miracle momma this sugar kitty needs, bless you for being one of the best!! :YMHUG:

thanks everybody! Ya'll sound like you think Jazzy is staying. :o That's not the plan, the plan is to find her a lovely home with a great caregiver who doesn't have 3 other cats, including another seal point diva who is likely to get competitive with her. We did discuss placing her here as a hospice placement, but I really feel that Jazzy deserves a chance at her own home so I asked to keep her on Adopt Me status for a while. She does have a little inappropriate urination issue that she needs to resolve before she'll really be adoptable. I want to try, though. If she turns out to really not be adoptable, then she'll stay here as a hospice placement.

I enjoyed my last weekend sleep-in day, that has been the best part of having an OTJ kitty. Next weekend I'll have to be back on an insulin schedule again, sigh... I can do it (I think).

and you know what they say about the best laid plans...

Kudos to you if you manage to actually foster. I just can't imagine. i mean, hullo? Have you met my fosters that I "fostered" for three months? Their names are Danger and Cosmo. I've been "fostering" them now for 15 years.

Yay for the 50's    Way to go Lucy!
And such fantastic news about Jazzy coming to you. That is one lucky kitty!
I hope she quickly settles in with your crew & everything is copasetic.
Does Lucy not understand how many kitties she's already sharing you with?
You're all our babies fairy-g-d-bean!

All great news. Can't wait to hear more about Jazzy.

Great update, Lucy!

I am so excited to see what you're going to be able to do with Jazzy. I couldn't believe it when I heard she had been on 10 units - yikes!

She's got a fighting chance now with you Libby. And she does seem to be such a sweet girl.

My, my. Two seal point divas. You'll have your hands full! But, oh, what a difference you are going to make in that girl's life!

Just can't wait to follow Jazzy's progress!

Donna & the Con Man

Awwww..... What a sweet face! She's a heartbreaker who does deserve a forever home. (Although, I think they can make her sound a lot more attractive than that Petfinder description.)

Oh ((((((((((((Libby)))))))))))) you are so amazing. This warms my heart and brings tears to my eyes at the same time. Poor baby, being in and out of foster for 4 years. I can't wait to see pictures (hint hint ;-) ) soon after she arrives.

With all of your experience she will be feeling better in no time *antijinx* ~~ :YMHUG:

*looks forward to drama nights again*

seriously, libby, this is awesome. jazzy's a lucky girl; she couldn't be in better hands!

lololololololololololololololololol!! roflmao! roflmao!! lololololololololol

she's gorgeous and her petfinder page made me so sad. poor girl sounds like she's on a countdown to the bridge or something with that write up. glad you're giving her a chance at least.

She looks so sad in that picture, I know your the angel who will put a smile back on her sweet face, she couldnt be in better hands.
Welcome Jazzy!
Lucy is just doing so awesomely (is that a word? it is now!) I love to read her updates.

It is so nice to see a condo from you Libby. Good to hear that Lucy and Sammy are doing well.
Congratulations on your newly adopted....oops I mean foster kitty. ;-)
Is Jazzy Lucy's twin.....they look alike to me. She is adorable.

Oh this is so wonderful Libby first that Lucy is doing great and second that you are getting a new sugar kitty to take care of we have someone at the clinic where I work that is also involved with Siamese cat rescue and when a Siamese showed up at my home about 8 yrs ago a very friendly male (not yet fixed but he had to be a pet) but no one ever answered the lost add I put out on him anyway he was fostered here by me and then adopted thru the rescue he lives in Conn now and goes by the name of Mr. B lives in a home of 12,000 sq feet    yeah I know a very well to do fellow adopted him who had lost his old Siamese I just could not believe the pics of their home well anyway best to you we will be looking for the new kitty's condo once you get settled in with her

Okay, I now consider this proof beyond doubt: Kitties look for and find the beans they need. This makes Jazzy one very smart cat, with excellent taste!

Lucky Jazzy.

Took me a bit to get here but-
Jazzy is one lucky kitty and is finally getting a well deserved break. I'm sure Lucy will provide the role modeling Jazzy needs.

Oh what a pretty girl! She's lucky to come live with you and your family! Tux disqualifies our household, he's a bullying brat. I think Brady will be able to hold his own with Tux though ;) After Brady, I'm pretty sure hubby's gonna close the doors on new acquisitions... for a while

Hi Libby-

It's very kind of you to take on another cat, especially a diabetic. I want you to know that I applied to be approved to adopt from the Siamese Cat Rescue. I'm not ready yet, maybe in a few months, but I paid the fee. I told them I heard of the site because of you. I hope you will put in a good word for me if they ask. I'd like to get a kitten, maybe two when the time is right.
