I inquired to the vet how Gordy is fairing while I am in Italy.

Here's what I got:
"Gordy is doing amazing he is such a sweet lovable boy, who loves to be brushed, and loves to play with toys (sprayed with catnip). We started him off on the one unit in the morning and one-half unit at night; until we were sure his numbers where going to be ok overnight. Dr Hotz re-evaluated him today and we increased him to one unit in the morning and one unit at night and we will continue to monitor him . He is the biggest love bug who loves to be pet and scratched he is a joy and welcome to stay with us anytime"

Part if me feels like they are lying. Gordy is not a love bug and I think he'd resent that. ;) i am annoyed they weren't following my dosinf instructions, but I get it. As long as he isnt spending a lot of time up high... it took me a bit to keep him down!

Sorry the vet is not following your dosing instructions, but it sounds like Gordy is doing well overall. I hope you are having a great trip.

UGH on the vet switching his dose around......guess it's for their convenience so they don't have to deal with him dropping when no one is around to test him. These docs do a lot of things for their convenience like making woman have babies on their backs instead of a birthing chair.

Glad they think he's such a good boy and maybe he is being quite submissive for them.

Hope you are having a blast in Italy!

ETA: wish they were updating your SS. Inquiring minds want to know.

Italy is so fun!

I started out the first few days at a convention, so not much happening there. But we came into the city (Roma) yesterday. And we did the Vatican today. St Peter's is so amazing!!! Massive!

Yeah, I hope they are writing his reading down (I asked them) but I didnt want them to have access to my sheet. They do have my entire paper log for reference on what i have been up to. I hope he has been doing actual good numbers and not vet good numbers on the 1u. LOL.

Wow, Italy! What an amazing adventure!!

Ugh, I shouldn't be surprised that your vet is changing the dose, but it sure would be nice if they would just follow your instructions.

I hope you have another great day in Italy!

The vet just e-mailed me and told me that they are closed on Monday (Memorial Day) and they apologize that no one told me this.

Unacceptable.

I am not forcing Gordy to stay there another day and PAY for it because they screwed up. I am so pissed right now.

They haven't responded back to me yet, but I pretty much told them if they can't make Monday happen that I will refuse to pay for that extra time since its not my fault.

That's awful! Woud they still take care of Gordy if they are closed? I agree with you not being willing to pay for another day when it was not part of your agreement!

They will have their tech staff in but they apparently are not allowed to discharge? I am very bothered by this.

I have a friend who works in the boarding section of a vet's office, and she has to go in twice a day on holidays to feed the animals, walk the dogs, clean the cages, etc. She's not a tech, so I assume a tech goes in if they have animals that require medication.

When I boarded my cats at the vet, the diabetic never got his shot on a 12-12 schedule, as they weren't open that long. They changed the dose without my permission, shot early or late, etc. Drove me nuts. That's when I went looking for someone else and found my wonderful Dawn. I'm trying to talk her into boarding my kittens when we have to be out of town and can't take them (she only does special needs animals). I'm glad you'll be home with Gordy soon. I wouldn't pay for the extra day, either.

Ugh! That is horrible! Have they been sending you his numbers? Depending on what they are on Sunday morning, you might want them to reduce him a bit since no one will be there to test. What about food?? I am so sorry you have this stress to deal with while you are on vaca. :bighug:

Im not worried about him being fed and all that, they have someone on staff there. They are just telling me the billing people aren't in.

They didn't respond to last night si now I get to stew over this.

I may have to call them later and pay 20cents a minute to yell at them.

I got a response from the vet office (finally). It was the practice manager. She apologized and agreed they had multiple times to tell me this.

They said that if I can pick him up Monday morning, they can discharge him for me. Otherwise, if he has to stay the extra night, I will not be charged for that day. (Which is good, cuz I wasn't going to pay them.)
