Yesterday's Condo

Cinco decided to hang out on shore today, catching some sun and drying out his fur after all his swimming lately. He is not too happy with me right now, as I put an e-collar on him. :( We're trying a soft one, to see if that keeps him from reaching his hot spot. I hope so - it's much easier for him to maneuver with it on than with the hard plastic one. It's also much easier to feed him and test him with the softer collar. It's going to be a long two weeks.

Minka once again had a crappy appy this morning. I gave her some Cypro this afternoon and she finally ate some cat food for me. I think I'm going to have to give in and dose her earlier in the day if I want to get enough calories into her. I just hate doing it.

Sasha ate well, especially after the pred kicked in. She's still sounding somewhat congested, and she is still in some pain, I think, with her front leg. I didn't call the vet today as I had planned, to ask about giving her some Bupe. I'll try to do it tomorrow.

Harvey is Harvey.

I finally got the last of the plants on the front porch repotted. It looks so much nicer with them all matching, and a lot of them got a bump up in pot size. Now I need to go jump in the shower before I fix dinner. bbl.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans, especially Carla & Callie, Deanna & Billie, and Georgia & Simon. :bighug: Special prayers for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, DH and DGD, Marje's DM, Chris' DM and Elise's DM.

Poor Cinco. I hope the hot spot heals quickly. Sending appy vines to Minka. I hope you can find something to help Sasha's leg and her congestion clears up soon. :bighug::bighug:

It's so nice to get a job done

Awww Cinco, honestly those collars are the height of fashion, you are one super cool dude with that on. I'm sure all the other kitty's must be jealous. You should give the bean some extra loving for that

Have you ever tried a little coconut oil on his hotspots? It's supposed to promote healing and it's certainly safe enough. Cold pressed virgin coconut oil has all kinds of health benefits and can't hurt him if he licks it a little

Looks like he may go for a moonlight swim tonight too....Will tell China to watch out for him and try to keep him out of trouble (for a change)

Thanks for visiting us, Carla, Serryn, Elise, Wendy, Rhiannon and Chris. I'm thinking I may need to switch Cinco to the large plastic collar. We haven't actually caught him, but I think he can still get to the spot - I found a couple of fur tufts just now, and I had cleaned them all up after I put the collar on him so I would notice any new ones. On top of that, one of the boys threw up their dinner, and I'm leaning toward thinking it was Cinco, as it was right near where he spends most of his time, and it was all in one place. Harvey usually throws up in several spots. It looked like there might be a bit of a hairball in it, which would also point to Cinco. If it was him, I'm hoping that was the cause. I just offered him some food, and he ate it willingly. Harvey also just had a snack, so no hints there. Not the kind of detective work I enjoy!!!

@Chris & China, I've never heard of putting coconut oil on a hot spot. Do you warm it up so it will be liquid and smooth it on? The kind I have says it is "Expeller Pressed Organic", "Refined for Medium High Heat". Will that work?

Minka only ate a small amount of her dinner. She wasn't hunched or fidgeting, but she looked a little "off", so I gave her some Bupe and some Ondansetron. If she still doesn't want to eat after we have our dinner, I guess I'll go ahead and try a syringe. Sasha is still eating pretty well. That Pred does wonders with her appy. I just wish it helped her leg.

DH is putting a tri tip on the grill, so I need to go prep potatoes and corn. bbl.

I think you can just stick your finger in and rub it directly onto the spot...since the melting temperature is so low, the heat from your finger should "melt" it and you can rub it in well.

I think you want UN-Refined though...If I remember right, the refining process removes the lauric acid and that's the key to a lot of it's medicinal qualities @Marje and Gracie knows for sure

Uh oh. That means I'll have to go find some.

Meanwhile, Cinco did a belly flop into the lagoon....:D I see China has headed back to shore. Perhaps they're taking turns.

Minka is still not eating - she was licking the air above a tablespoon of baby food. We have syringed 7 cc into her, so far. Hope to get 15 cc in her.

Tricia

Expeller pressed is refined. I'm not sure if it matters whether it is refined or not for hot spots but if he can lick it, it's better to have unrefined. If the ecollar keeps him from licking it, you could try what you have. I only know that, taken internally, it should be virgin (e.g. unrefined). Just another tidbit....the best coconut oil is not necessarily cold pressed. That refers more to olive oil.

How about trying this which is supposed to be a great natural remedy for hot spots 50/50 solution of apple cider vinegar and filtered water. Apply a few times a day.

Sending healing vines to you and your whole crew, Tricia. You know what today is...NASCAR! :woot::woot::woot: We've already got our grilling stuff ready to go! Have fun:)
