At forty five minutes before shot time, Checks carried on like he hadn't been fed in a week. He still had uneaten food from overnight, so what could be the problem.
Thinking okay, I can get a +11 (almost).......Yikes....it's 55!

I fed him, because he was screaming at me, and I wasn't alert enough to stall to see if that was a rising number.
And frankly, I didn't want him to drop more.
Of course, by shot time, fueled by food, he had risen to 84. I shot the normal .75

The problem is, I'm pretty sure he would have risen anyway, but I have not been able to get a handle on levemir.
I just do not understand when his onset, or nadir is, cause he's so flat....I don't understand overlap, and all the idiosyncrasies of lev.
I stare at my SS, and just don't see patterns.

I shot his normal .75, this morning, even tho he had food behind that number, because I was positive he won't dive, and I'm home to monitor.

Wow Checkers! That is one way to get food and get your bean's heart started early in the morning. I'm glad you are home today. Hopefully Checkers doesn't decide he needs your undivided attention. Have a wonderful day Barb and surf those greens Checks!!

Hi Barb, I think you handled it well. You know Checkers and how he reacts. I get the same thing with Mags sometimes howling for food way before shot time, and sometimes I give in to her with a little snack. Looks like Checkers is rising. Checkers, no dramarama today, k! Have a nice day, Barb

Ive tried not to analysis all these kitties! As long as they are happy, I am happy! Numbers are just numbers.

Good catch! Lev needs a little different mindset and it took me a long time to adjust too. I often see a dropping number at preshot, but i know that it is a late nadir. Since onset usually isn't until +5 or +6, I have plenty of time to get her up. it's also why we nearly always get a +11, just so we aren't surprised!

That's the problem Ann. I don't know the difference between last cycle's nadir and the current cycle's onset.
When I see a drop early on, like between +4 and +7...I assume it's this cycle's nadir. I can't get why it would be last cycle's onset.

Lantus was more immediate, and for me, predictable.

The only thing I like is the cycles are much flatter, than Lantus.

Hi guys .. wow, what a great run of numbers for checks today! Barb, don't feel frustrated you don't understand his SS .. I never could see anything with mocha's either .. I think you're doing great with him!

Awwww Barb i feel your pain girl, i'm still learning Lev cycles too. It definitely is way different than Lantus and i still don't know exactly when Leo's nadir is either. Checkers is doing so well on lev, its nice to see him not Olympic diving anymore. Gorgeous numbers this morning for Checkers. :mrgreen:
 
Hi Barb - sorry for the late visit... What a nice day for Checkers. and :shock: :shock: on that 55. I wish I could help you with the lev stuff, but am kinda clueless, short of what I read from peoples' posts. The numbers look great today - so much green. I hope you had a good day. :-D :-D
 
Checks No scary moves now!--I am a lantus person, as I understand it, sorry no lev advice--
