Yesteday Atlas was up and sneezing his head off!!! So we were to the vet....again. Dear Atlas, I know we have found the most awesome vet in the city of Cleveand...but it does cost $$$ to see him! Dr. says since we've seen this with him several times now...he thinks it is a chronic viral infection. So, we are back on Lysine treats.
Every person/tech in the office had to come in and give Atlas a visit at the office yesterday. His favorite vet tech, Krista, came in between patients to see him and was carrying him around in her arms with a big bear hug on him! Even the lady that handles the billing came down from the office to just visit him! He has quite the 'fan club' there! And Krista was trying to temp him to come live with her as she raised organic chickens!
We also decided to booster him in the face of a potential chronic outbreak. We discussed the pros and cons of doing so and I reminded the Dr. that last fall it took over a month for Atlas to battle off the last outbreak. And since Attie's vaccination records are so messed up from the initials at the shelter 2 years ago...why not? So, the downside is he goes full outbreak again and all I do is provide supportive care. The upside is the vaccine could short circuit the outbreak itself. No gaurentee either way.

I picked-up a new client yesterday. The little kitty has epilepsy and will be needing two visits a day for medication. One of the things we covered was the kitty is usually boarded on the eastside at the Barkley. Well, the Barkley is one of those facilities that does that outrageous catering to pets, even picks your pet up in the limo! So realize my shock when she asked about how much I charge for 'cuddle time!' OMG! an upcharge for 'cuddle time?' So I just checked their pricing on their website and sure enough...there is a cuddle time charge! There is a charge for catnip, catgrass, and a toy mouse too! Everything is extra there and nothing is part of the standard boarding fee! OMG! They even up charge for administering medications and ....they don't do injections! So if you have a diabetic pet...no stay at the Barkley! http://www.thebarkleypethotel.com/download/brochures/bark47_checkin_0412.pdf
I think they are going to be blown away by the in-home pet sitting experience. She was already shocked to find out there is actually pet sitting insurance. She had no idea and thought folks who did this were just hobby sitter folks, but there are actual professional in in-home pet care.
