Smoky yesterday
Zener is doing fine this morning. His numbers are still high and we are ready to increase again if we don't see something better in the next 3 cycles. Appy is good, thanks to cypro.
He came in from the yard and jumped on Tillie a while ago. What a rascal!
OT: No, Zener wasn't smoky yesterday but the air sure was and it was disgusting! It's the Slide Fire south of us, just about 12 miles away now. Yesterday was tough but today is much better.
It seems a low pressure system has moved in a little sooner than expected, bringing calmer winds and some humidity in the air. The smoke plume is going west of us today so our air is mercifully clear. The firefighting is going better too. They built a fire line at forest road 535 and that seems to be holding. The winds are calmer so the air tankers can fly. We hear them occasionally. They have a DC-10 which can hold 12,000 gallons of retardant. And they said on the news that it can fly as low as 200' above the ground.   O.M.G. The communities that got pre-evacuation notices yesterday are still on pre-evacuation so good news for them. Some folks have already left and everyone has had plenty of time to pack up important stuff. We have packed up some stuff and have an idea of what else we will get. We spent some time raking up pine needles in the front yard this morning. I feel really dumb for not doing that sooner. Thank you for your concern and good wishes.
