Georgia and Simon (GA)

Member Since 2010
Sorry I did not get a chance to update yesterday. After work, I had to go to my niece's high school graduation. It was the best graduation I have ever been to because she went to a performing arts school. Dancing, singing, orchestra, drama -- it was so much fun compared to listening to a bunch of names being called.

Anyway, Simon ate even better yesterday! I still am syringe feeding him but only had to give him 4 big syringes instead of 6. Yay! I should get back the results from the urine culture today to see if he has a UTI. WIll get started on an AB right away if so. If not, Simon starts on prednisolone and hopefully, will start eating better.

I didn't get a chance to post a response to Rose's post to our condo yesterday. Rose, I didn't realize all the things you were going through with your sweet baby, Zoey. I am so sorry for your loss. And in the midst of your grief, you were thinking of others. How kind. I looked briefly at the link you sent me on Danielle McKinnon and I want to explore her site further. She looks like she goes a little beyond what a normal AC does, although her prices seem a lot higher. She must have quite the following. Thanks for thinking of us!

I have a huge party at work to coordinate today and will not be able to come home for lunch. I have the pet sitter coming in just to check on Simon, not to syringe feed because he won't do it for anyone else but me.

I'll post again tonight.

Morning Georgia :coffee::coffee::coffee:

What a nice BG for Simon. It is good to read that he ate better yesterday. I am glad he accepts the syringe feed. Mannie would not: Aiyee... Keep up the good work Simon! You have the best of kitty days today.

Good luck with the work for the party. I hope all runs smoothly.

I just went back and was reading your prior condos. If it is lymphoma, it is likely small cell because there aren't any masses. It does respond to pred and leukeran, another chemo pill. It also could be intermediate cell which my Tiffany had and it does require more aggressive drugs like large cell. Tiffany started on them but had to stop. Pred bought her an extra 6 months but she had gone into remission before starting it. Prayers that Simon "only" has IBD and responds to pred. Are you giving anything for nausea? That would help all of this, either ondansetron or cerenia or even both. I still read on the lymphoma board and the vet there always suggests one or both of those drugs.:bighug:

Yay for Simon eating more on his own....you go, Simon!! I hope the petsitter has a great report for you, and that he continues to eat more and more on his own. Enjoy the party and have a great day, Georgia!

Wow on the high BG but Simon ate food with gravy in it today. I will probably need to up insulin if he will only eat the gravy food. He did pretty well eating despite me not being there, but not enough. Am syringe feeding tonight.

Elise, yes he is on Pepcid, ondansetron, and cerenia daily. Pepcid and ondansetron 2x/day. I do hope we are dealing with IBD instead of cancer and I am hoping that the pred will help.

I am very frustrated with vet this evening. The results are in as of late this afternoon, according to the office person, but the vet has not called me to tell me if Simon has a UTI. Very important to know because if he does not have UTI, he can start on the pred. I am calling first thing in the AM if I haven't heard anything tonight.

Adding more vines.
I might suggest keeping track when you give the gravy foods ( I think the gravy foods may have been what led to our severe bout of diarrhea)
ibd is usually some trigger /allergen in their food and it sure is hard to figure out what and why.
The best thing is a novel protein but we only had one left and now she won't even eat it.

I'm glad Simon ate well today - even if it was "forbidden food". I hope he will do as well with something that is more FD friendly.

I HATE waiting for test results! It seems like they never call when they say they will. Don't they know how much we are stressing????!! I hope you get your answer first thing in the morning.

Sending lots of appy vines.
