Hi everyone in lovely LL. I had another interesting night...why nighttime, Champ, while always nighttime? :lol:

Champ has a low AMPS and I went ahead and shot a full dose so let's get this party started. If I remember correctly, I'll be checking his BG every hour until I see a rise. This may be a long day since I only got three hours of sleep. Thank goodness the DD doesn't work today!!

Very nice night and numbers this morning!!

To answer the question in Gabby's condo, I should be around off and on today. I gotta do things like laundry and buy groceries.

Sienne - okie doke. There should be lots of company here today if I need anything. I'm actually not too scared. I've got what I need in case of an emergency and I've read up on everything so I should be okay, "should" being the operative word, :lol:

Now that we've got the food spike out of the way, let's get down to the green floor!!! I'd love to see him surf some greens today, get some good pancreas-healing time in :-D

what a night! did you sleep in between those pokes or just stay up movie watching? i think if i were you, after the nadir i'd go to bed as long as it was up, say above 60 and not continuing to fall. that's painful to test all night.

but what a great start to the morning for mr champ! he's looking super.

Hi Julie...yeah, I stayed up watching TV and working a little bit. Once again the DD wasn't very helpful. I'm hoping she's just being hormonal cuz she wasn't like this last week. I don't think she understands what the goal with Champ is because she said she wished he would quit getting the low numbers at night. I had to remind her that we want him to do this more often, not less often, and it's going to be a painfully sleepless process. She just got herself a second job so she might not be available to help much anyway, but I'll figure something out. For some reason, I've found that everything usually works out. I give the credit to God. He's been immensely helpful to me in all aspects of my life. :-D At least DD doesn't work today so I should be able to get a long nap in this afternoon.

Just a general FYI... You may need test past nadir. First, nadir isn't a fixed point. It can shift around on any given cycle. Also, whenever you have the influence of HC, once the HC wears off, numbers can drop again. So, just because a cat hits a safer number at the usual nadir point, you may need to still test to make sure the numbers have stabilized. The procedure I outlined in the "low numbers" stickies whereby you see that numbers are trending up and are stable is far safer.

sienne, champs numbers last night, at hour intervals were

+6 76, +7 92, +8 87, +9 103

wouldn't you have gone to bed after the +7 or so? or are you saying you would've stayed up too?

i probably would've gotten 30 minute testings after the +6 and after 2 rising numbers have gone to bed. i guess it depends on when you fed champ, too.

sorry to digress to ask the question in your condo, patti, i just want to understand.

I'm glad you did ask! And I had fed him at +5 which is why I had stayed up to test for so long, in case it was a food spike

Such a dedicated momma bean Champers has, we would do anything for them, including staying up all night just to make sure they're ok and getting zero sleep. Thane goodness Leo has a habit of bouncing all night. :-D maybe Champ will follow suit?

I think Patty did the right thing. I was responding in the hypothetical earlier more to the issue of not testing past nadir. Many people look at the nadir as a fixed point that's always at the same time.

Oh what a beautiful night for Champ. Yeah, they do seem to like the nighttime drops. :lol: I think it amuses them to see us trying to stay awake while they can snooze as much as they like.

Goodness, The drama Champ is causing.. :lol: I wondered often myself why at night..I was grateful to have been around the other day when Tommy gave me the 48 in the middle of the afternoon.. You will get some sleep some day, Right?

You know the although at night, the blues and greens over the past week sure are puuuuuurty to see...
I sure hope you get to rest some today!

This cycle of numbers makes absolutely no sense to me...but that happens a lot :lol: Champ had started to turn his nose up at the Wellness food I was feeding so I bought a bunch of Fancy Feast yesterday and, of boy, he thinks it's dessert. He actually jumped on the kitchen island where I had actually accidentally left the can out, uncovered. He never climbs on the counters so when I hear the commotion of things banging around, I looked over and there he was, looking at me like, "Oops, I'm gonna get it." He had knocked the can into the trashcan. Thank goodness, cuz otherwise I'd have been cleaning the floor. I fished the can out of the trash, nothing had come out of it, so I put the lid on it and put it in the refrigerator. It's not like he's a picky eater or anything :lol:

Question about Fancy Feast: I printed out Janet & Binky's list of the FF foods so I could get the lowest carb flavors. One I ended up getting was Salmon and Shrimp (classic), but it's not on the list that I can see and that's the one Champ is eating now. When I picked the flavors, I made sure to not get any that were higher than 3% carbs since the Wellness I have is 4, 5, and 6% and I wanted to make sure I have a diverse grouping of carb foods. Anyone know what the carb count is on the Salmon and Shrimp. Maybe it's not as low as I thought it would be (their fish flavors for classic are all in the 2-3% range) and that's why Champ's numbers are climbing??? Just a thought.

Hi Patty,

Just stopping by to see how you and Champ are doing today. Looks like some nice numbers out of Champ! I have no Fancy Feast knowledge, so I won't venture a guess on that question. I do know that it's recommended to limit seafood ones of all food. I know my civvie is a seafood lover, but he's also prone to cystitis, which can be aggravated by seafood...at least that's what I've been told.

Hope you are having a marvelous day! Oh to have a cat that hardly ever climbs on the counter, that would be great!

i don't know either, but i have sometimes thought that fish seemed to raise punkin's numbers. but then we started limiting the fish to just once on a weekend his numbers are still high. so perhaps it's just all in my head. along with the voices. :lol: just kidding, but all the other fish classics are really low - you're right on the 2-3% - so i doubt it has much either.

thanks for the explanation, sienne - i also had thought the nadir was pretty much at +6, and punkin usually is, but definitely not always. sometimes it's been all over the place. i can see you can't count on it being at a certain time.

hi guys! what a nice night you had, and an ever better morning. Too bad that Champs' GPS seems to be broken.... wrong way there big guy. Well looks like Mannie had company. We too were off to a great start until he decided up was better than down. Looks like Champ is bouncing off of yesterdays greatness. and I know... alwasy the low stuff a night. Must be true what they say about cats being nocturnal.

FWIW, Nadirs can shift. Mannie's has several times. We were at about +5, went to +7, even up to +8, and now seem to be back to about +5/6. I've done so many curves that after a while it just jumps out at you, and then you think - wow, we have a new nadir. :roll:

I know we had pretty high numbers today, but it was relaxing so I'm okay with that. And I'm sure, since it's getting to be nighttime, Champ will come down because that's how he seems to roll these days! :lol: The ended up not going to the play because the start time was 6, not 7, and Champ's shot time is 6. At least the DD went and then has a party to go to afterward. Nice quiet house for me and Champers tonight. :-D

What awesome numbers last night!! You did a fantastic job....bellisimo!!!

Awww..today just looks like a bounce to me....we have alot of those identical cycles on Gracie's SS. I particularly do not like it when she gives me a green AMPS after a lovely cycle and then just keeps going up.

Champers is looking superb overall....so nice to see after all your patience.

I couldn't agree more, Marje. Champ typically bounces for one cycle so I'm hoping for some good numbers tonight. I have all my Monday morning work on my desk already so I'm just going to do it tonight in case I don't get much sleep tonight. That way, I can shoot at 6 am and then go back to bed!!

shooting and going back to bed sounds like a rather perfect start to a monday morning! i suspect you get to sleep tonight, although with these crazy kitters we can never be sure til we're actually headed for bed, can we!
