I am so worried about Simon. He is very sluggish and seems like he is uncomfortable. I kept waking up last night to make sure he was ok. He is eating but 1/2 the amount. I took him to vet for BW and urine culture. He has lost 3oz. in 2 weeks. Vet gave him some fluids and cerenia shot to see if that might help with nausea. I haven't noticed any change since it was given. Plus, Simon acted so strange getting fluids. He started doing a little coughing sound and then open mouth panting. It was scary. I will hopefully get BW results back today.

I think Simon has been having some of these issues over the last 2 weeks, but because of the death of my father-in-law, I am fearful that I just didn't recognize an issue.

Now I also feel bad about bringing Missy home if Simon is sick. I have such guilt. :sad:

Oh, Georgia, you have had so much on your plate lately. I'm sorry Simon isn't feeling well. Did the vet have anything to say about Simon's reaction to the fluids? I hope his BW comes back today, so you can figure out your plan of action. I know it's hard not to, but please don't feel guilty about bringing Missy home. Remember that you've brought her much joy by making her part of your family...and Simon knows that. I'm sure once he's feeling better, he'll just fall in love with his new little sister.

Many prayers for you...I know you're having computer trouble, but please keep us posted when you can!

Don't feel guilty - you've had so much on your plate. I believe too that Missy is so grateful that you did bring her into your home. Simon knows that too. Once he feels better I'm sure ll will ebwell.

Sending tons of vines for Simon. I hope he's feeling better soon. (((((Georgia))))) Don't be hard on yourself, you've done a great job with everything that's been going on with you these past few months. And don't forget how good cats are at hiding discomfort.

Sending more strentgh and healing vines your way. Sounds like you've had a rough go of it lately. I'm sure you're doing right by Simon and he knows it. Hope he can stay strong and turn things around soon.

((((Georgia)))), please don't feel guilty about anything. You have been doing the very best you can. Could Simon have an allergy to something in the fluids? Sometimes they can develop allergies even though they were not allergic before. Perhaps you might call the vet and ask. The breathing thing sounds like an allergic reaction.

I'm sure that Missy and Simon will be fine together once Simon feels well again.

Vet called this afternoon. Simon's WBC was somewhat elevated but everything else looked ok on bloodwork except high amylase. Started Simon on AB. Urine culture will be back in a few days and we'll see if he has UTI. Vet hasn't ruled out pancreatitis. I will do that test in a few days if AB doesn't seem to help. Simon's appetite is definitely off and he is hiding under the bed. His BG still is high.

One good thing. Simon passed Missy while she was in her room with just the screen door separating them. They just looked at each other with no hissing. :smile:
