Hi L&LL,

We are home after a weekend without internet (and partially without electricity). The big storm really hit the area of the Adirondacks where our camp is. Fortunately we got our electricity back pretty soon, but the internet was out and the phone lines were affected, too. We had to pay cash at the gas station because they couldn't process credit cards. (Fortunately they had electricity, so the pumps were working).

We had a great weekend. Rusty was a purrfect traveler and camper. His mamabean really is losing it, however: I forgot to pack the calipers! Measuring a dose with the Monojects is hard enough with calipers, but without it was really a guessing game. To top it all off, it was so cold in our cabin that the meter wasn't working well (I got both the low-temperature warning and the low-battery warning). I changed the battery and warmed up the meter in my hands. Tonight we have the first yellow number in a long time. The shot this morning was probably way short. Or maybe we have a bit of a trip bounce. In any event, Rusty enjoyed a good nap when we got home.

Paddlefest was lots of fun and we had a good time with our friends.

We hope all is well in L&LL and will try to chip away at reading condos tomorrow, after we get back from a quick trip to Vermont. We are returning the little guideboat we bought last fall: it just wasn't right for us.

Barely yellow, the dose was still fairly close I'd guess. Sounds like camp was really roughing it this time, ;)

Bummer on the guideboat! Guess you aren't meant to go backwards.

I wasn't aware that there was a low-temp warning. What meter do you use? I don't see it in your signature.
I use the Arkray Glucocard 01 Mini (from ADW; it is the same meter as the Relion Micro). The low temp. warning looks like a thermometer and appears if the temperature is too low for the meter to function accurately.

The problem is that my legs are very long and my torso very short. So I was constantly running into my knees and I couldn't pull the oars straight to my mid section. My arthritic hip was killing me! The builder has kindly agreed to take the boat back.

Morning Ella :coffee::coffee::coffee:
I gots LOTS of Ethiopian this morning Auntie Ella! I am glad your back home... those deliveries to your cabin were quite the adventure! I LOVED IT!! ~~Vanessa, kitteh barista :cat:

Wow, sounds like quite the adventure for you. Who knew on the low tempt reading on the meter, very interesting. oh my on the power outage... quite the adventure! Mannie would have been so proud, and right in the middle of it all. I am glad canoe outing went well. and you have a new canoe???? COOL! One can never have too many canoes..... :joyful:

oh wow on dosing, no calipers... sounds like you did OK. It is so hard with that microdosing. I do not miss that aspect of the sugar dance. I hope so see you back at the lagoon soon Rusty. You can do it!

All is well on the home front here. Kitties are well, enjoying or warmer weather. We have been in the upper 60's, low 70's, lots of sunshine, minimal rains. They are spending alot of time out in the catio, even taking their naps there. Such a great investment. Nicholas and William are doing great. Nicholas has three more weeks of school, William two. We are very anxious to begin summer adventures. I've been hiking when I can, a couple of trips over to Eastern Washington. I had hoped to go tomorrow, but am debating that. Temps there in the desert are mid 90's, and for a 6-7 hour hike, no shade... maybe I'll postpone until it drops some, squeeze it in before they truly hit summer temps.

Have a great week!!!! :)

6 or 7 hours in the desert with temps in the mid 90s are not my idea of fun, either!
Glad to hear that all is well with you guys. I'll bet the boys are excited soon to be going on adventures with Grandma again.
Thank you Vanessa, Kitteh Barista, for braving the storm and delivering the Ethiopian expresso. We loved it!

Rusty knows there is no place like home.
