Good morning LL, and Happy Furday! ~O) ~O) ~O) Definitely not enough of those on this fine morning.

Yesterday's Condo

HOORAY! a bloo start for Mannie, and +2 was right on target. I hope this means a good day for him, like the ones he had last week: nice blue surf, or maybe even a drop into the greens. Now that would be excellent! Paws crossed! cat_pet_icon

WBR: ugh. overslept this AM, bummer!! 20 minutes late for AMPS.... aiyee, and not a way to start Mannie's day! :?

WCR: rainy day - but Mannie still made his rounds, an abbreviated version, but rounds none the less: complete with paw prints back into the house, yard debris stuck to his fur (darn long-hairs!), and damp wet fur. This mornings wake up call found him a sleep in his catnip toys. Go kitty! :thumbup

Morning RECAP:
AMPS 190
+2 187

Re: 5/21 Mannie AMPS 190, +2 187

Morning Michelle...nice report on Mannie! :thumbup

Mannie is invited to our Full Moon Party this Thursday...hope he can come. Catch a moonbeam and come to Florida to dance the night away....and do some howling too!

Re: 5/21 Mannie AMPS 190, +2 187

Good start today, Mannie! Lets surf BLUE! Tess looks forward to meeting up at the fll_moon Party.

Re: 5/21 Mannie AMPS 190, +2 187

Hi Ann, Hi Pat! And good morning!

Mannie was checking the calendar this morning - now I know why: a fll_moon is coming, which means a party at Shadow's... he is so there. What a party animal. oh - he is the king of howling...

Blue is nice - I am almost afraid, well sort of, to get his +4 - paws crossed that he has chosen to surf today....

It's not only disheartening, it's just plain rude! I think you need to have a talk with Mannie's liver.

Re: 5/21 Mannie AMPS 190, +2 187, +10 446

Hi Michelle and Mannie,
Aw, Mannie what happened? We can never predict how they will do some days. I'm glad he enjoyed his romp in the rain this mornimg. Send us some rain. Have a nice weekend.

Re: 5/21 Mannie AMPS 190, +2 187, +10 446

Yo Mannie, Say it wasn't the mice! Did you eat some of my beans' donuts?? They said they were going to put them away so I would't eat them. No matter. We had fun. And we're going to have even more fun on Thursday at the Full Flower Moon party. All of us guys are going to wear flowers, so start thinking which one's you're going to pick. I have some nice blue ones in my yard. I'll bring you some if you don't already have your own. See you on Thursday,
Stu

Re: 5/21 Mannie AMPS 190, +2 187, +10 446

looks like a "high before the break" to me. Hopefully he'll be much lower at PS.

Re: 5/21 Mannie AMPS 190, +2 187, +10 446, PMPS 413

Hi all!

413 at PMPS.... better but still just plain ugly. I wish I knew what he did during the day. I have been having such issues with the test strips and the meter that I use - get a decent blood drop, but the damn strips capillary action just isn't cutting it and pulling the sample up far enough to read. I end up with several pokes some tests, and on occasion - like today - just give up. I am seriously thinking about changing meters.... Mannie is very patient, but there are days, like today when he cries out, and the purrs vanish as quick as they started - not good in my book..

ok - thanks to all for comments! we keep on moving forward, and hope for a good night for my boy.

Sienne - I might have to send Mannie's liver to night school too. SHesshhhh - no clue where that 446 came from, or the 413. maybe Libby is right - the high before the break.

Libby - you are alwasy right on target too. so - we shall choose to believe that it is the high before the break, and I will cancel Mannie's enrollment in night school.

Ann and Maggie - you can have all our rain! I will send bunches. Had to cancel my hike today, as it meant crossing the mtn passes to get there, and well they said 2" snow. snow - in may???? rats. never did snow, could have gone, and oh well, maybe next week.

Stu!!!, no way man! The stew was right on, mousies were delicious... there were donuts? I missed them, so i think your bean did put them away. good thing - i love donuts! YEP - all geared up for FUN FUN FUN at Shadows Full Flower Moon party. I am so ready - flowers are great - i plan on wearing alot of them - my bean says there is a nice bunch growing in the back yard - all of them blue, a few greens too.... See you then! oh yeah: You be good to your bean - she is way cool and takes you on awesome trips, and lets you have the window seat. Later! ~~ Mannie

Re: 5/21 Mannie AMPS 190, +2 187, +10 446, PMPS 413

Hi Michelle,
What kind of meter are you using. You may have mentioned it, but I can't remember. Many of them use the Relion from Walmart and have success. I use the AlphaTrak, but the strips are rather expensive.

Re: 5/21 Mannie AMPS 190, +2 187, +10 446, PMPS 413

Hi Ann - it's a maxima - one given to me when we first started testing back in November. I kept it at the time as the strips weren't too pricey, and fit my budget. Think I may have to bite the bullet here so to speak and get something better. Had a friend give me an Ultra One-Touch - nice, but the strips are really expensive. I dunno - part of me wonders if it is just this batch of strips. ????

Could be the strips maybe! I do have a Relion Micro as a back-up in case something happens to my Alpha Trak. It was very inexpensive with the strips, but I like the Alpha Trak and hesitate to change.

Re: 5/21 Mannie AMPS 190, +10 446, PMPS 413, +2 429

Thanks Ann - I will look into it. after another session here with 4 strips to get 1 test. ohmygod_smile sure not saving any money with this approach, not to mention what it is doing to my guy. I feel bad, as this used to be a decent time for him, but not when it hurts.

Re: 5/21 Mannie AMPS 190, +10 446, PMPS 413, +2 429

It's so frustrating to get a good blood drop and lose it because the strips don't suck it up fast enough! Once I tried my AccuChek Aviva, I couldn't stand any other meter. Even though on paper it supposedly uses more blood than my old Freestyle Freedom, if the cat moves before the blood gets into the strip then it really doesn't matter what size drop you got. With the Aviva, I can almost always fill the strip on the first try. Strips are more expensive, but if you don't waste as many.... I've heard the ReliOn meter is good and it's cheap, but I haven't tried it.

Re: 5/21 Mannie AMPS 190, +10 446, PMPS 413, +2 429

Thanks Libby - what you describe is a good part of what is happening - very very frustrating... makes me sad too - Mannie is such a good guy when it comes to testing - a trust built there. I hate to lose that just because of a darn strip that just isn't fast enough, he moves, etc etc etc. and i end up having to poke way too many times, way too often. now he cries - he never used to before.

thanks to you guys for your help.

Hi Michelle, I switched to the Relion Ultima meter. The meter is cheap and the strips are quite inexpensive and almost always work the first time. They fill quickly, too. (I balk at shopping at Walmart, but so many people on the board recommend their meter that I decided to try it and I'm glad I did.) If you don't have a store nearby you can order from Walmart's website. Delivery is quick and very inexpensive.
Too bad you had to cancel your hike today.
Now, Mannie, come on down from those heights!! I thought you had put the bungees away!

Stu says: Hi Pal!

Ella

Hi Ella, and thanks! and I too balk at walmart - but you're right - do hear about that meter alot. I also got a couple of good suggestions from some others too. Time I think to check this all out, and do better by Mannie. Nice too that it is online, as then HAHA - I won't have to go to their nightmare of a store....

Yeah, bummer on the hike. It was a "desert hike" - in the eastern part of WA, where it is dry, hot, very much like a desert, but warm for our state at this time of year, with outstanding wildflowers - last night I had read a bad weather report for the pass to get over there: snows, freezing this and that, icy roads, which would have meant travel delay, which meant shortened hike, which met not being back in time for pmps. so - elected to cancel. bummer in that the wildflower season on these hikes over there is so short - running out of time so to speak -darn weather! Funny part is that the weather guys missed another one - not one flake of snow, and HAHA - could have gone. oh well, will try again next week... 7 hours on the road for what equates to a 3-4 hour hike. i must be crazy...

Tell Stu HI!!!!!!!!!!!! from Mannie. He just came back inside from checking on his flower patch - just making sure he still has flowers for the full flower moon party.

OH yeah - impt detail: 318 @ +5.5. a slow decent - with out bungees. PHEW! thank somebody that he is coming down. that 446 today was such a heart breaker....
