Looks like you will get a blue or green surf today. Hope so.

I was thinking of getting the meter you are using but it sounds like it need more blood than the Relions. Still trying to find a more accurate one without buying the Alpha. Those strips are just too expensive.
 
I've gotten a few errors in my day, and Trix is always impatient to get eating. On those errors days, I just test her again right after she eats - it's quick enough that food hasn't really influenced the numbers and I still get a good idea of her starting point. Interesting that the Bayer allows a second chance!

Thanks, ladies. I hate not getting enough blood the first time, I decided not to do multiple pokes on poor Lulu anymore, unless absolutely necessary.

That`s a good idea, Amy, I should have tried again just after she ate rather than waiting 1 1/2 hour. I gave her the insulin while she was chowing down, I have three hungry little faces looking expectantly at me in the morning, looking for brekky. I'm sure every bean experiences that "I'm starving" look in the morning.

I just took a reading and poked a vein, lots of blood, unhappy kitty (she felt that one!), but I put some pain-relief polysporin on. The three of them will not be happy with Mama gone for the next week. So we won`t be submitting BG readings for that period of time.

Hope you are all having a wonderful day. I'm frantically trying to get some last minute stuff done before we leave first thing in the morning.
 
I use an Abbott Optuim. It allows you three minutes to get the blood before it comes up error. If I don't get enough blood the first time I have enough time to try and get more, or do another poke usually before it is too late. I find it a really good meter.

If you're running out of time and haven't poked yet, you can take the strip out of the meter and re-insert it.

Thanks, Bron and Ella. My cat sitter assures me that she will be fine. I really am turning into a crazy cat lady. I`d rather stay home with my cats than go on vacation. Sad..
Cat sitter said she`d email me pictures of my babies :)
 
Have a great time on your vacation Lori. I haven't really been on a vacation since Neko was diagnosed, unless you count hauling her to Colorado for her SRT. But this year I'm planning on taking her with me to Victoria. Having a cat in the hotel room makes it so much more cozy.

My family and friends think I am a crazy cat lady too..... And I haven't been on holiday since Sheba was first diagnosed in 2011. So don't worry ......we are all a bunch of crazy cat people......:cool::joyful:

When I mind my daughter's two dogs - labradoodles - I send them a photo of them every night after I shut them in for the night.......so we aren't that crazy after all.........:p

I have friends that sort of understand what I do for my cats, and my sister does, but pretty much everyone else thinks I'm off my rocker. I don't care. These are my babies and I would do anything for them! I really enjoy my trips away from home and all the stress here, but before I go I am a total mess - guilt and worry about how they'll do, etc. They always do fine. The key is having someone you trust to watch over them. Even if she doesn't do it exactly the way you would, if she cares and she "gets it", all will be well.

Lori, you need a break. Take it and enjoy it and come home refreshed. Lulu will be the better for it, and so will you.
 
Thanks, everyone. She tested high this morning, 252, before I gave her the .5u. The three of them know something`s up, they`re being very mellow. Anyway, I`m leaving pretty quickly. Take care, love to all sugar kitties.
