Here's Gob this a.m. with his new catnip bun-bun...

Gobbles was enjoying a sunbeam at the bottom of the bed this morning; quite content. I didn't get the normal TP, kissy, purry, wake-mom-up routine, which means he ate just a little while ago. I think. He had a great appetite and joined the CPC at breakfast.

His PMBG yesterday was 65; the lowest so far during his OTJ trial!

Hot here today (yuk) -- took the first dip of the season in the pool yesterday.

Prayers and hugs to our members in Oklahoma, and condolences to Julie for Punkin's passing.

These are the cubes. People have found them at Target and I'm sure places other than Amazon. Gabby loves them. Gizmo loves them because Gabby goes inside and he can harass her from outside of the cubes.

I know walmart used to sell those cubes because I have bought one there in the past... I would assume they still sell them - but of course I have not bought one in a long time - so I am not 100% sure.

Thanks--looks like Gob and his civvies would really like these--and very reasonable. I looked at the ones at walmart.com (cheaper) but the dimensions aren't given....so I would be hesitant to buy them there....

PMBG = 144 :shock:

I fed him Friskies Chicken & Tuna Dinner (pate) today--not sure on carbs (on carb calculator the guaranteed analysis totals 9%) as I can find "w/gravy" on the list, but not pate--first time ever as it has never been in my usual grocery store but I was at Pet Supplies Plus yesterday and saw it there, so bought some for him to try. Maybe that is what caused the blue number?

I gave him FF kitten turkey (5%) at PMBG and will test him again 3 hours past PMBG

What do I do if he is higher, or still blue, at PMBG +3? At what point (number) would/should I be prepared to administer insulin? .10 u?

Since you tried a new food, that PMBG could definitely be related. Hopefully he'll bring that down and get you back on track! (Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question about shooting...)

I never gave it half a thought to not try a new food; I didn't have my "list" with me at PSP and assumed the Chicken & Tuna pate was low carb, but then again, it seems I've read in other people's condos that even really low carb foods can cause food spikes in some cats; hopefully, the new food I gave him is something he just can't have because it raises his BG....I'll test here in a bit and see where he's at--he's pacing for food...
 
Lots of LC foods definitely make Trix's BGs run all over the map, while other kitties do just fine on them. Unfortunately, "pate" doesn't necessarily guarantee LC....

I bet you'll see the good numbers again, as soon as that food clears his system.
 
If what you fed was the Friskies classic pate Chicken & Tuna Dinner in Sauce, it's 9%.

Even a low carb new food can cause a rise in numbers for some cats. It can take several days for them to adjust.
