Late posting today, in and out all day so finally sat down to post. Crystal was high again this morning so gave her 3.5uR at AMPS. After her shot she had three attempts in the LB but was straining, at the 3rd go she passed two hard round pellets. I gave her some olive oil by mouth and I've been putting coconut oil in her feeds since then. She's been out and about in the garden all day so I don't know if she has passed anything else. Perhaps this constipation is affecting her high numbers? I don't know, yesterday's PM shot of R had absolutely no effect. Got back in time to take a +11 of 279 up from +8.5 of 225 so gave her 3.5uR to try to halt the rise.

She gets omega 3 fish oil and a Miralax substitute every morning, plus pumkin added to her raw mix but continues to get bouts of constipation every couple of months. I'll carry on with the coconut oil in her food for a couple of days and see if it helps.

Recap on today's numbers:

283 AMPS = 3.5uR
356 +2
297 +4
230 +7.5
225 +8.5
279 +11 + 3.5uR
ETA
261 PMPS

Vines and wishes to all in need today, hope to visit later.

Hi Suki! Sending poop vines for Crystal. My Chi Chi has poop issues as well, and is always a bit higher before she finally poops(every other day now).Sounds like your giving her a good combination of remedies. Hopefully one or all of them work and she gets some relief soon.:)

Hi Laura, thanks for looking in on us. Paws crossed this works, she seems well enough in herself otherwise. Appy good, although she tends to get a whiff of the coconut oil and eats round it, despite me mashing it into her chicken mix. I've been putting a tiny amount of tuna on top to mask the smell. Sending poop vines for Chi Chi too!

Sending poop vines for poor Miss Crystal--constipation is no fun for kitties!! :bighug::bighug: Not sure about the coconut oil, on how fast it might act, but you might ask your vet aobut upping her Miralax substitite- it is dose to effect. By the way, is Crystal getting water with her food? Any signs of dehydration?

More poop vines for Crystal! My civvie has constipation flare ups to - I have her on a maintenance dose of miralax and that seems to keep her steady for the most part. With an FD kitty, I'm sure it can affect the numbers. With the Miralax (even the generic), you do want to be sure she gets extra water.

Have a great evening, Suki!

Thanks Ruth and Amy for your suggestions. Yes I always do add plenty of water to her raw mix, so it's like a soup consistency with small lumps. I've been feeding her frequent small meals so as not to overload her with one large meal. I only gave the Miramax substitute at breakfast, but I'll add another dose to her bedtime snack for good measure. It's been a perfect cat night so she has only just come indoors, so I've no idea whether or not she has passed anything outside. Not showing any signs of distress or prowling, settling down for a nap. Paws crossed its not too bad.

Hi Suki, sorry you have the added worry of constipation. That is no fun at all. Poor little Crystal, I hope you can get it sorted out quickly. No advise from me because you are doing all I would have suggested.
Maybe her numbers are being affected by her discomfort/pain. I know that any pain sends Sheba's numbers up.
Paws crossed for a speedy resolution.

Just thinking about the pumpkin........I give it to Sheba every day and if there is an issue (it is usually sloppy poops not constipation) I give her extra and that settles it all back down. As you know pumpkin works for both.......could you maybe give Crystal extra pumpkin to make it softer, it should draw in moisture, and thus make it easier to pass. The extra pumpkin shouldn't hurt her. Might put up the numbers slightly but might help......just a thought.......

Both good ideas Bron and BJ, I'll give them both a go today. Well there were two poops in the LB this morning, one hardish and one perfect, but 4 cats so it's anyone's guess as to who they belonged to. I'll keep Crystal in for a few hours to see if she goes, no obvious signs of discomfort though and good appy, settling down quite content.

AMPS of 171 so gave her 1.5u R as she was still coming down from last night, managed to get a +10 of 185 so a fairly slow descent.
