Yesterday's Condo
Another long day, another late condo. Sorry. I had a follow-up doctor's appointment in Sacramento today and errands after, so just now getting home and dinner still to prepare, but wanted to get this posted while I can still think (sort of).
I wasn't crazy about leaving Cinco today with a 108 at +5, but I was pretty sure he wouldn't do anything crazy and really needed to go to my appointment (nothing serious, an eyelid inflammation, but needed to be seen while it was active), so I left out some freeze dried salmon for him to snack on and left (DH went in to the office today). Judging by his PMPS, I don't think he got too low. He's really been flat blue lately. Angling for a dosecrease?
I had to stop for gas on my way, and as I pulled into the station my cell rang. It was Sasha's vet with the biopsy results. I wasn't expecting them for at least two more days. The news was bad, no not bad, devastating. It is a fibrous sarcoma, most likely vaccine related. While she felt that she got it all, the pathologist told her that it was a particularly aggressive and active cancer, and that it has most likely already started spreading. She said these kind typically go down the leg and the most likely treatment will be amputation, although radiation is a possibility. She wants Sasha seen by an oncologist ASAP. I called UC Davis and the Oncology coordinator told me the doctors want to wait two weeks after the mass removal, to allow for healing, so her appointment isn't until Monday, June 9th. I had to sit at the gas station for ten minutes before I could get back on the road because I was crying too hard to drive. I forced myself to think of other things on the way, so that I could drive, and also because it wouldn't help my exam if my eyelids were all puffy from crying. I somehow managed it. Now that I'm home there's nothing to hold back for and I'm not doing too well.
Sasha threw up her breakfast this morning, and I could see the remnants of a white pill in it. There were also two gelcaps, mostly intact. One was the Allerplex, and the other contained a white pill. I don't know if that was the AB or the pain med, as they look similar. I put it in another pill pocket, dusted it with Forti Flora, and offered it to her. She ate it without hesitation, so I'm guessing the vomit was more of a scarf and barf than an actual upset tummy. She looks fairly uncomfortable, but the doctor said I shouldn't try to give her another pain pill till tomorrow. She ate her dinner tonight a little gingerly, in stages, and her AB capsule was lying on the plate, part of the PP gone, when I went up to check on her. I put the plate back in front of her and she nibbled some more at it. I had to leave the room for a minute, and when I came back Harvey was eating some of it, so now I don't know if she got that pill or he did! i just sat down on the floor and cried, and Sasha was laying next to me, purring. She looks so cute in her new t-shirt. I just can't believe this happening. This pic is from last night:
Cinco is talking to me, so I think I'll go get a +2 test and then I have to get dinner going. My DH is so mellow and never complains about late dinners, but we both need to eat something. I'll try to visit condos later, but I don't know if I can concentrate. Sorry. Please pray for my little girl.
