Last Condo

Hello, hello! Sorry we were MIA yesterday. It was another hectic day, and by the time I was able to sit down at the PC it was after midnight, so I thought I'd just wait and do a massive condo today (as opposed to those little short ones I normally do :p).

Cinco has been taking his duties as deputy LagoonMeister very seriously. He's spent a lot of time in the water and is taking today off to dry off and let his paw pads unwrinkle. I think he got caught in the undertow last night, as he had a hard time getting back to shore. I'm sure that wore him out. He has a bit of a summer appy going on, even though it's still cool and breezy. Lots of FD salmon has been crumbled to keep him motivated to clean his plate. Really, he's pretty easy in that regard - I know some kitties that could take lessons (not naming names, Minka and Sasha!). ;)

Yesterday was Minka's "final" chemo. The ultrasound showed that her kidneys were back to normal, and the one spot that had been nagging at the oncologists was gone!!! I'm almost afraid to say it, but she is in remission!

She will go back in one month for another ultrasound to be sure nothing has changed for the worse, and if all is well, she will then be on a three month recheck schedule like Sasha and Cinco are. The ultrasound showed that her bowel and pancreas are inflamed, and the oncologist said that she felt it was pancreatitis (as several people here suggested). She did not do the tests to confirm, as she said the treatment would be the same. I'm already doing most of it, but she added in some Bupe for the discomfort. It's weird, 'cause she'll go several days and seem fine (other than bad appy), then she'll have a day when she's all hunched over. So I'll just have to watch for that sign and give her the Bupe. Her oncologist wants a call or e-mail next week, letting her know that she's better. Today is a not so great appy day, but she is relaxed and seems comfy. I've only tried two different fuds so far, so I'll be taking up # 3 shortly. Her blood levels were much improved, so no expen$ive iron supplement yet! (anti-jinx)

I've got an appointment at our regular vet for Sasha for this afternoon. I want her to confirm that it's her allergies acting up and not another URI, and I want her to check out those back legs. Of course, this morning Sasha jumped up on a chair with no apparent problem or discomfort.

Harvey is just being Harvey - no news is good news with him!

I hope to be able to visit more condos this evening. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, even if I don't pop in to say hi.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans, especially Carla & Callie, Deanna & Billie, Georgia & Simon, and Rose & Zoey. :bighug: Special prayers for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, DH and DGD, Marje's DM, Chris' DM and Elise's DM.

Double WOOT WOOT on today's condo. :woot::woot: Cinco is looking just awesome! :D I think Neko went looking for him in the tidal rip last night.

Fantastic news on Minka. I'm joining you by doing a happy dance here!:):):):):) Paws crossed for improved appy and good results at Sasha's vetty appointment.

Wahoo wahoo wahoo!!! This condo was worth the wait.....hooray for Minka!!!! I think p-titis can wax and wane, especially if it's on the chronic side, which it very well could be because of the chemo. Hopefully it will settle out. My vetty doesn't do the p-titis tests because she said they can give her skewed results if anything else is going on, so she just treats based on symptoms.

Sending good vetty vines for Sasha....have a great day, Tricia! Oh yeah....nice greens, Cinco :D!!!

((Tricia))) I have missed so many of your past condos because of bad timing, I hope you are recovered from your long late drive into SanFran airport, my goodness!! Great job holding down the fort! Such wonderful news about Minka, I was wondering if she had started the darbepoetin treatment and now it sounds like she doesn't need to--hooray!! I will continue to send truckloads of vines for all of your fur crew and you, what an amazing job you've done for all of them!! Additional prayers and vines for Sasha Harvey and Cinco, what a great condo!

Congrats on remission. It's interesting to me the differences on how oncologists handle it. How long was she on chemo?

Max has the appy going up and down. Since he is somewhat better regulated I'm starting to think it's pancreatitis influenced rather than BG influenced and that's why he got ondansetron today. We haven't run an fPL on Max in a very long time. I just treat by my gut. If he didn't respond I would test. I agree with your vet.

FANTASTIC news on Minka's remission!! Of course a lot of that has to do with the wonderful care you've given her too!

Cinco....if you keep going out into the deep water like that, Rusty's going to have to assign you to "beach watch only"! Better stay a little closer to shore! ~ China

Tricia, what fabulous news about Minka! We are so happy for her, and for you: all your hard work has paid off!

Enjoy your celebration this evening.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Yo Cinco, Surf safe so that you are a model for the other kitties!

Rusty, LagoonMeister

Thank you to all who stopped by to celebrate with us today about Minka's remission. I'm still a little afraid to believe it and will probably not really accept it until the next U/S next month. Meanwhile, she hasn't wanted to eat all day so just got the other half of her Ondansetron and some Cypro. I did give her some SEB before I left with Sasha, but that doesn't appear to have helped. I guess the next step will be to break out the boiled chicken and broth. @tiffmaxee, Minka was on chemo since the beginning of December. She had a total of 16 treatment, using four different drugs.

Cinco was a very good boy and surfed blue today. He had another of those odd cycles where he kept going down right up through PMPS. Of course, he could have been lower between +7.5 and shot time and I just didn't test him...

I guess I'll never know. He's starting pretty low for tonight, so we'll see what he does with it...

The vet said that Sasha is congested in the upper part of the respiratory system - her lungs are clear and her heart sounds good. She agrees with me that it is probably allergies and has put her back on a low dose of Pred. She said she may have to stay on it until the heat of summer comes along and the pollen dies down. It's been so windy here that it really isn't surprising. She also thinks that Sasha is developing arthritis in her front leg. She said it's very common as it tries to make up for the one she's missing. She says the Pred should help that, too, but if she seems to be in pain I should consider acupuncture.

My heart is broken and it took me quite a while to be able to see well enough to type this, after sitting down at the PC and reading the news about Zoey. I know we were all following her story and pulling for her and her amazing beans every step of the way. It is comforting to hear about what a lovely last day she had, and it sure seems to me, as it does to others, that she knew it was time. Rose and her awesome DH are in our prayers. Fly free, sweet Zoey!

Add a reduction to the good news today. :D Point taken Cinco - time to come up now.

When does Mark come home?

That's great news - he can do the morning shift if you have to stay up late. Maybe Cinco was being considerate with his timing.

Wow what a day and night. First remission. Now Cinco earns a reducie. Sasha is okay and just has allergies. Who could ask for anything more? Well one more. Tomorrow everybody eats well to celebrate and adult beverages for the beans. Enjoy this wonderful night!

Thanks, Elise. Adult beverages are definitely being consumed. Minka is eating, although not as much as I'd like (are we ever satisfied?), and Sasha has had her first Pred, so will hopefully start feeling better soon.
Cinco is finally heading toward shore. It's been quite a day. It's hard to feel happy, though. I keep thinking of Rose. :(
