Check Titus @ 12:30 today & got the 69, fed 1.5 lc, checked again @ 1:30 got 55 & then again @ 2:10 with a 52. gave .25 mc. will check again around 5:30 titus seems to be gaining weight gain, not sure how to keep the weight off. will try to get him moving more.

I still can't believe how great a response Titus has had. Penny has only had him on insulin <2 weeks! Can you believe her BOS - shooting these numbers. Yipee!

I hijacked the condo and changed titus title to reflect tonights numbers. Titus has earned a dosecrease. Penny will probably shoot .25 in am unless numbers a problem. Penny has been giving some HC. With the last test I suggested more Hand some Karo since he really isn't coming up and still has several hours before nadir. NOW WE HAVE A BIT OF URGENCY. PENNY JUST SPOKE TO ME AND CAT NOW AT 21. I HAD STRESSED THE ABSOLUTE URGENCY OF THIS NUMBER AND TO FEED STRAIGHT KARO AND HC GRAVY AND TEST IN 15 . I ALSO STRESSED THAT POTENTIALLY IF SHE ISN'T ABLE TO GET THIS NUMBER UP THAT HE MAY NEED TO GO TO EMERGENCY VET.

Good advice, Joyce. A good amount of karo in a bit of gravy, or rub it on his gums, and retest in 15 minutes. Does he have any hypo symptoms?

Make sure you tell her not to give too much food at a time, you don't want him to get full if he needs to keep eating for several hours....

ok, Penny got a great bump with the karo and gravy. She will test again 30 -40 minutes. I think her DS will be home after that and be able to test too. I did tell Penny that the carbs can clear quick so she does need to be prepared that he might go back down. Anybody check out his SS lately - Penny has been getting drops at the pre shot time. Thoughts?? Dosecrease from the s.5 to .25 sound about right ??

she'll want to test for another hour or two, just to be sure he is staying up. If she only fed gravy and karo before, she can give him some food now to help keep him up when the gravy wears off.

A reduction sounds good. Either 0.25 or skinny 0.25.

With that drop tonight, I'd be inclined to suggest that Penny take the full 0.25u decrease.

Well, this has been a roller coaster of a ride with my darlin Titus! I am so thankful that he is respondant to the things I did to get his bg stable. His sugar is now up to 95, although I kinda forced the hc gravy & karo syrup into his mouth which he did not appreciate at all he seems to be very happy. He is batting at his toy & cleaning the mess I made on his beautiful fur! Hey, what can I say, it's not about vanity, it's about saving a life! He'll get over it!!

Titus now at 191! Guess the karo worked. I am snickering cause now I am wondering just how much karo Penny did use??? OK, Penny says she gave 5-7.5 ml of karo. I never had to use Karo so don't know if that is alot or about what she needed anyways......

That's a fair amount of karo....but it's ok, I'd rather see you overdo the karo than not give enough! I don't think I'd be thinking about measuring the karo when I'm looking at a 21. ;-) :lol: The first time I saw a 30 something, I plunked down a whole can of HC food, so don't feel bad about going a little overboard on the carbs! :lol: :lol: :lol: I had also been shooting a lot longer than a couple of weeks.

I'm glad he came up, and I agree with the suggestion to reduce by the full 0.25u. Titus has a very pretty SS, you're doing a good job with him! You are fortunate to have Joyce to help you out, Penny. :-D

Good grief, the computer cut off the header and made it look like +4.5 9!!!!!!!!!!! :o

95 much better. :-D

Nice work! I've seen kitties earn dose reductions, but Titus made this one VERY clear.
