Georgia and Simon (GA)

Member Since 2010
Pretty exhausting evening last night. Simon ate most of his overnight food in the automatic feeder so that was good. Still only about 1/2 of small can of food. He is on board with all the meds except waiting to find out if he has a UTI or can start the prednisolone soon. The bupe is helping him be more comfortable and he shows interest in everything I do but just doesn't want to eat like normal. I have to figure things out at work to make sure I can always come home around lunch to syringe feed him if he isn't eating.

The bad thing is that I am supposed to go down to Florida this weekend with my sister to check on my cousin. As many of you have heard before, my cousin is in a group home due to schizophrenia and we are basically the only family she has. She is having problems right now and we have to go down and figure out things. This couldn't come at a worse time! DH can help me with many things but he just can't figure out how to syringe feed Simon. I may need to cancel the 2 day trip if things aren't any better with Simon.

I have an appointment this evening with an Animal Communicator to see if that might help with all the questions I have and to make sure Simon is not in pain. I'll let you know how it goes!

It sounds like Simon is starting to feel a bit better...I am so glad to hear that. We are continuing to send many, many prayers your way....for Simon, you, DH, and your cousin, too. I hope the AC can help you as well!!

I've been thinking about you all morning. I hope the meds are helping Simon be more comfortable. Sending all kinds of healing vines and love your way. ((((Georgia)))) I am anxious to hear what the AC says.

Morning Georgia :coffee::coffee::coffee:

I've been thinking of you too. I am glad that meds are helping Simon, and that he is feeling better, be more comfortable. I too am anxious to head what the AC says.

I am sorry about your cousin. I hope that will all work out. I remember how difficult it all was and continues to be. Hugs to all there.

Have a great day today. I hope all goes well.

Georgia, I'm glad Simon is more comfortable and that the meds are working. Can your DH finger feed Simon when you go to Florida to help out with your cousin? We are sending good, positive thoughts for your cousin, and many healing vines for Simon.

Thank you for all the love and support I am feeling from you! Today was pretty tiring and Simon is about the same, although he does not look as tired and seems more alert. Ate a little more food but still not enough for me to stop assist feeding him.

AC call was very informative and I think she could read Simon pretty well. I will update with more info in the morning, but bottom line is that Simon told her that he is not ready yet and he is not really in any pain. Probably due to the bupe. He is aware of the issue, but not uncomfortable, although since he is not eating, I am not totally sure about that statement.

I am praying that tomorrow will be a better day for Mr. Simon.

I'm glad you spoke with the AC. Ours was a big help with Gus.

Our Teddi had large cell lymphoma. She responded well to chemo but crossed from a pulmonary embolism unrelated to the lymphoma or chemo.

When Gus was almost 18, he had symptoms of lymphoma or IBD. And, as you know, he had CKD. We elected to not even do the u/s but start him on pred. Our vet said if the pred helped him, it was probably IBD. It did work...be only r for about three weeks. The AC kept in touch because, at first, Gus also was not ready. But a month later, he was. You're doing all the right things for Simon.

Many prayers for you both. I hope you will get some guidance on your trip.

I can only imagine how hard all this is for you. It's great that Simon is eating some on his own, but frustrating that it's not enough. I have the same problem with Minka. How picky is Simon about what he will eat? I'm thinking you could be sure to put the highest calorie food you have in the feeder, so at least he'll be getting more calories, even if he isn't eating a lot. I always assumed all cat foods had pretty much the same calorie content, until I needed to get some weight back on Minka. Then I discovered some are much lower in cals than others. Of course, she prefers the low cal flavors!

You are really caught between a rock and a hard place about this trip. I hope Simon will decide to eat more on his own and allow you to go take care of your family issues.

Sending lots of appy vines. :bighug:
