I really don't like to see him this high! Back to my question from yesterday.....should I give him a dosecrease up to 2.50? I am about ready to throw this meter & test strips out the window! These numbers are driving me absolutely NUTS!!!

As for Morris....he doesn't seem to care about his numbers at all! He is a very happy kitty & all of his P's are working just fine!

Re: 5/20 Morris AMPS 499!

Well Gwen....he did get a green PMPS last night and blues the day before...you could put the question in your post heading....and then maybe more experienced people will come by.
I am just here to say hello and tell you that I totally understand your frustration! Deep Sigh.
It looks as if Morris likes to bounce high after some low numbers. Hope he comes down soon.

My Shadow is a bouncer too. He is trying to get back down faster and faster from his bounces though. Guess that's the way it's supposed to be....gotta hang in there.... HUGS!

I've done this now. However, I did have it my heading yesterday & only CD stopped by to have a look.

Thanks Pat! It sure does help to have so many friends here when I need to vent!!!!

I'm sorry for these high numbers. But I totally understand your frustration of the meter, and wanting to throw it out the window! Mocha loves to bounce, thank goodness she never really went any higher then the 300's but that was still high enough to make me sick to my stomach. I hope a dosecrease works for you guys, if that is the route you are going to take!

Re: 5/20 Morris AMPS 499! Dosecreast time?

Hi Gwen... I have to say whapityblubbpy boopity blah.... Morris is hard to understand. The green PMPS last night told me that he may be bouncing, but I would have expected his numbers to stay blue or green longer than 2 hours. Then again perhaps he had a good low run of numbers during the day and you happened to catch the very end of the greens as he was going up. Then the PM +2 in the 300's make sense as he bounced out of the green.

I'm just guessing here, but if that was the case, an increase seems to me would make it worse. But if the green was just a dive due to not eating or something, then that's a different story. Morris is hard to predict, I'm sorry I don't know what else to say.

But with green and blue numbers within the last few days, I'd hate to say increase and then have him drop way too low while you are at work. That scares me.

I completely understand...it scares me too! Since I have a nice 3 day weekend coming up, I will attempt to get a full curve done & see what those numbers tell us.

Re: 5/20 Morris AMPS 499! Dosecreast time?

3 day weekend and lots of tests, sounds good. (Well, maybe not to Morris, but to us it sounds good, hee, hee.) Then if the one green preshot was just some weirdness, you can see whether to slap some more juice into the boy.

Re: 5/20 Morris AMPS 499! Dosecreast time?

I'm also thinking that the red this morning is rebound from yesterday's green and I also think that I would not be increasing the dose because of the green yesterday. I understand that you are frustrated by the yoyo Morris is putting you thru, however, I am not convinced that increasing the dose is the best thing to do at this time.... although, I could be wrong.

Re: 5/20 Morris AMPS 499! Dosecreast time?

I think Morris' SS has several of us scratching our collective heads. If you can do some testing over the long weekend, maybe we'll be able to get a handle on what that bad boy is doing besides making you crazy.

I do want to make sure that we can rule out anything that is obvious and may be contributing to Morris' wonkiness (and please, if anyone else can add to the list, please do):
  • Lantus is still good - not just no floaties. Is it within the 28-day manufacturer's recommended life span?
  • no access to dry food
  • no access to cupcakes, bagels, donuts, crumbs from any other critters in the house or means to open the refrigerator or cupboards
  • no dental or other health issues that are unresolved

This cart was started on Apr 25/10 with the evening dose - so that is about 25 days. I am hoping this cart will last me another week....I have to buy strips this weekend & I want to put off purchasing another box of Lantus cartridges until next weekend if at all possible.
No dry food available for him! No access to other food/crumbs either
When he was at the vet back in Feb, we were looking at either his teeth or p~itis causing him not to eat....the vet I saw (not our regular vet), said that there were a few spots in his mouth that may be causing him problems, but she wanted to check out everything else before booking a dental. I did get an estimate from my regular vet a week or so ago for a dental for him....now I am saving up for it! I am hoping to get him in for a dental in mid-Aug. No other health issues I am aware of....just diabetes & p~itis.
