5/20 Jack- How to show delay of today's insulin on SS/when to give PM shot?

What a morning we have had!!!

The first question is how to show that Jack was 56 at his normal AMPS shot, but that I fed him, delayed the shot, and an hour later he was 96 and that is when he got his (reduced to 7 units) insulin (technically +13?) Now I also have readings 3 hours (104) and 5 hours (143) after his insulin that I want to make sure go in the right spot.

Second question is when to give him his PM shot? At the 'normal' 12 hour mark, or 12 hours after he had the insulin this morning? I have to go to NY tomorrow for my mother, so this derivation from the normal insulin schedule is just not good, along with the fact that no one qualified to properly handle an emergency with him is around to look at him tomorrow. He's making me crazy.

I'm guessing the fact that he had no kibble at all yesterday is what made his numbers drop so much. It was one of those rare days where he cooperated. Today, he insisted on kibble, and due to the lower number, I didn't really argue too much this morning. I did reduce this morning from 7.5u to 7.0u and he had kibble, so if the food theory is correct, he'll be higher at his PMPS time than he was yesterday. :banghead::banghead:

Any and all answers to my questions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey Christine!

You will dose 12 hours from when you gave insulin, and then work it back in 15 or 30 minutes to the normal shot time.

On the SS, put ALL the numbers in the AMPS cell, and color it in whatever the pre-shot color is. You can look on my SS, I think on 05/15 or 16, I had a delayed shot with Sly at AMPS!

You would put "56 @12, 96 @+13" in the AMPS cell and put the other readings in the +3 and +5 cell.

You can shoot 11.5 hours from this morning's shot time. You could also get a +11 and if he is over 300, you could possibly shoot then - if you have to stay on schedule for tomorrow. Shooting early could act as an increase though. I'm going to tag @Wendy&Neko for her input.

Thank you!

If you delayed an hour this morning, show the 96@+13 and Bhooma described, so you can see you delayed an hour for AMPS.

Looks like he's on hie say up tonight, I think you'd be OK shooting 1/2 hour early tonight. I'm a little wary of the 7.5 unit depot, so wouldn't shoot the full hour ahead tonight.

Thanks, that's what I did. I stuck with the 7 units and did the half hour early. I appreciate your checking in...thank you!

Good evening all,
Just wanted to thank everyone for their support and input today, all greatly appreciated! i think I fixed the SS correctly now and I did go up the 30 minutes for his PM shot because I really do need to get to my mom tomorrow, and he was 253. But, I kept the 7 units and the mongrel ate prime filets so he will probably not have an issue (paws crossed) overnight or tomorrow morning.
Thanks again, all. Have a good night
