Alex is doing fine today. I was sure that his BG would be in the 300's this morning but he left RBC nice and fast I am happy to say (not that he couldn't be right back there at shot time). :roll:

I did make a discovery that I'm not thrilled about this morning...my cats' loss of appetite, both of them, seems to be due to Fancy Feast! :? (although I'm sure that Jackson's is more than that as well). This morning Jacky was really hungry and when I put his bowl down(ff beef mixed with Evo 95% beef) he took a few bites and walked away also. And Alex had done the same thing but went back to finish it because he will basically eat anything...but initially he walked away. I opened a can of Friskies Special Diet beef & Liver for Jackson and he gobbled up what I gave him. I gave some to Alex too, mixed with the Evo, and ditto. This is really the beef so far more than the others, but they haven't been real happy about any flavors for the last week..either of them. I'm picking up some Friskies today, although I'm not thrilled about the "Brewer's Rice" in all of the flavors.....what IS Brewers Rice?

Other than that, all p's are in order (and Jacky is coming along nicely too), and my boys are taking their morning snoozes. (Still liking the Lev) :-)

So sorry the FF malaise has come to your condo! I've gotten Kitty to accept the FF Gourmet Chicken Feast mixed with something else, like 9 lives at first, and now Evo 95%. But he refused the Beef, which he had lived on before they changed it.

It seems to me Kitty is gaining weight now -- either the 9 lives or the Evo 95%. Not desirable, but he's got to eat!

We need a Feline Diabetes Food Corporation to produce tasty, healthy low-carb foods. Hey, cat food companies, here's a great idea with a ready-made market!

Ooh...yeah. I'll be the sales rep. That's something I could get behind..and need the work.

If we were industrious and put our heads together..this could turn into something.


And would not only have to limit it to FD diets...we could find the best makeups for CRF, pancreatitis, etc...
Just labeled clearly so people know what's what.

Sorry Caryl, didn't mean to hijack. (it's what us condo-less beans have to do sometime)
BTW, Hank does that often...what he liked yesterday he doesn't tomorrow. i think you just have to rotate and cycle in the tricks.
I can usually get a few bites out of him if I add water drips, warm, and/or sprinkle 1 or 2 pieces of EVO on top...or mix with another flavor.

I tried a flavor recently he'd turned his nose up at early on, and he ate it fine this time. Beef seems to be something he will only eat inconsistently.
He loved Cowboy Cookout (beef), I thought, UNTIL I BOUGHT A CASE...now not so much. This is one that really is good only when freshly opened. The consistency totally changes after refrigerating, even water and warming can't bring it back. So I am throwing alot out. He did eat some when I mixed it with something else though.

They just have us wrapped..that's all. If only they could talk, it would make things so much easier.

It looks like the switch to Lev has been a good one for ya'll. I hope he keeps doing so well.

What flavor 9-Lives do you get? I'm just going to the food charts now because unfortunately I have to feed Jackson what Alex eats because they eat together and clearly Jackson was tickled pink yesterday when I gave Alex medium carb food. Beef FF is the only one he has totally walked away from...so far!

I'm glad Alex is doing alright, and that Jackson is healing and eating!

As for the 9-Lives...We've used Super Supper and the Ground Chicken. My boys would eat it, but I don't like the smell of either one (they're rather pungent and smell fishy). We have also tried the Chicken & Beef Dinner, and the Prime Grill w/Beef (I think...it's been a while--all depends on which store I'm shopping at!) and they both liked those just fine too.

We're also currently doing well with Friskies Chicken & Liver dinner and Turkey & Giblets dinner. As long as I don't change too often, Max doesn't get too pukey. Oh, and Mixed Grill goes over well too, but again, I'm not a huge fan of the smell. :-D

We fed the Chicken dinner. We BOUGHT the Super supper, but I was afrad the beef would raise Kitty's numbers, after the FF fiasco.

I have tons of old-label FF Tender Beef here, and I'm afraid to feed it. :sad:

Alex and Jackson BOTH like the Friskies Special Diets Beef and Liver but today I also got the 9-Lives Prime Grill wit Beef, Friskies Poultry Platter and Friskies Special Diet with Salmon (it's like a Mixed Grill type of thing with salmon in it)...I'm having a tooth pulled tomorrow so I needed to get this over with today. If worse comes to worse, I can eat the new fuds..and they can have the mac and cheese and Jello I got for me (Oh and the cherry Italian Ices, too) they would look cute with bright red moufies, don't ya think? :mrgreen:

when I use the friskies - it's the special diet turkey giblets -

my girls turn their noses up at evo 95, the nature logic rabbit and are eating the new label ff - oh and today, didn't like my homemade raw that I slaved over making for them...grrrrrr
 
Hi I'm Heidi and Doodles and we're new here.

I was reading your posts tonight and I had the same thought! Someone should open or at least offer a diabetes section with all the information we need!
This is crazy...

I finally got both cats on wet...I've been using the Friskies Tuna Flake in Saue ( ) and the Tuna and Egg ( ) they love it! But can you have too much fish?
They hate Salmon, don't like much of anything else that is good for them. I've been donating to the animal shelter the cans they won't eat.

Doodes had crazy numbers today too and was more herself than she has been in a long time? Maybe cuz her daddybean just got home from being gone for almost a month :sad:
