I figured I would take advantage of the board being up right now and get Trix's condo started early today.
She is feeling much better this morning! Her posture is better (tail up!), her energy is better, and she doesn't "feel" weak when I hold her - she feels solid again. She gave me morning snuggles while I checked e-mail, and trotted into the laundry room with me while I prepped kitty meals. Her appy is getting better...she ate a little bit without me holding the plate and encouraging her, and when I do hold the plate and encourage her, she is eating more food and more enthusiastically. I think we have a way to go there, but we are definitely continuing to take baby steps forward.
Other "firsts" that returned: Last night, she snuggled with Petey on the bed instead of sleeping on her safety zone rocker. This morning, she did one my favorite things: her "yoga stretch".....she does a downward dog then stretched each front leg out in front of her. It's the cutest thing ever. AND....she's back on to FortiFlora! She developed an aversion to it last week, which we know means she was feeling REALLY crappy since she LUVS that stuff. This morning, I got her BP meds into her no problem (pill pocket mushed onto a kibble), but she was not going for the famotidine tablet with that PP/kibble trick. I have liquid famotidine as a back up, but she hates it, so I really wanted to try to get that pill in her. Since she was not going for the PP/kibble trick for the famotidine, I busted out FortiFlora to see her thoughts. Her little eyes lit up and she gobbled up her pill. Phew...at least for now!
We're still giving the ondansetron injections. I totally screwed up trying to give her a pill last night...maybe, now that she approves of FortiFlora again, I'll give the pills another go. But last night was such a fiasco that I didn't want to risk not getting enough ondansetron into her this morning, so we busted out the harpoon. We'll keep going with that al least through the weekend. Vetty did say to continue the meds for at least 48 hours AFTER she really starts feeling good to make sure she stays there.
I was going to grab an extra test last night, just to see what's what, but the evening started out so traumatic that I let her off the hook. But since things are going well today, I will test her again in a couple hours. If she continues on this path, I should feel comfortable starting a very small dose of insulin in the next day or so. Fortunately, her numbers have been pretty fabulous, all things considered.
Gotta go see if she'll eat some more, then BTB. Have a great day, LL!!
