Don'tcha just want to be there and give them both a hug for real.

I'd bring J a plate of dinner & pud and lots of anything possibly tempting for Silver and Sasha.
Sounds good to me - I just tried calling my friend as I need one right now - and she is out! :arghh::arghh:
It is hard to be in the country without family at times like this.

I wish we were all closer together so we could help each other more.
Believe me Carla - I don't know where I would be without the help I have received here. Silver for one, would likely not be here. Without your support and the support of DCIN, I would not have managed emotionally or financially.

Really good news that the Temptations are tempting. I hope Silver will discover other foods that he used to like. I hope that Sasha will realize that Silver really is Silver and that all of you will have a good night.
Rusty has never been food-motivated and my method to get him to eat is to sit on the couch with him and hold his bowl. He hops right onto my lap and begins to eat.

Well I guess it's going to take a while. He ate a few but now won't take any. I hate to be gone all day tomorrow. Sasha already got hold of the fish I left out for him so any food left tomorrow she'll sneak it before he gets to it.

Out from under his covers. Won't eat any more temptations. Try again tomorrow.

Really? Ok. I've been worried he won't take any more.
I’m half joking but they’re very high carb which is why they can work so well to pull up BG if a kitty dives too low. You don’t need to worry about carb level right now. Anything he’ll eat can help to jump start his appetite.

Maybe I'm wanting too much too soon. He's out of sorts. Not purring anymore. Not eating. What do I do if he won't eat before I go to work tomorrow. I can leave food for him but Sasha will eat it.

Talking of eating - forgot to have dinner myself lol

Is there any way you can lock him in a bedroom or bathroom with his own little bed and litterbox? That's what I did with Floyd to make sure nobody are his yummies.

Also could keep track of urine & stool output.

I gave him a variety plate of a/d, Fancy Feast with gravy, Sheba, baby food, etc. to see what he'd like.

I still wonder if the Cerenia is all he needs. If the antibiotic is upsetting his tummy, he might need something else in addition.

Now you go eatsomething!

As hard as it is, maybe it would be best to let him quietly reorient himself to being back home. He’s been through a lot and needs to settle. When Teasel had his DKA it took a couple of weeks for him to get back to normal. I was lucky in that he was eating although a bit less than usual occasionally. He was weak and lethargic for a long time because that kind of crisis is very hard on the whole body.

I would be okay leaving him alone if he was eating.

@Janine & Floyd I could shut him in my bedroom but usually I'd have one cat on either side of the door raising hell. I was going to try it overnight but Sasha needs tlc as well and would object to being shut out of my room. If I shut her in my room and Silver on the other side - she'd raise hell wanting out half way through the night. Not sure on that one.

I know. Very difficult all round. You know all the tricks about the eating so I suppose just have to hope that he will feel inclined.

I think he likely just wants to rest. He;s had quite a few days of it. Ty was quite a lot like that for a fair few days after the dreaded hospital. Must be like being abducted by - do-do-do-do - aliens.

See! I knew that might happen.
Do you have a curly cheese sandwich to hand?
Or *lightbulb moment* , what about scoffing some temptation treats.

So this might sound strange, but what if you leave multiple bowls of food, I used to free feed, and there was always food left, kitties will only eat as much as they feel they want, they're not like Labs after all :joyful:. Might be worth a try, even if Sasha gets more of it, I have to think if there are multiple food bowls, Sasha can't get to them all? Nor would want to. Now, go eat your dinner ;)..says me who is still cooking...late

Lol...and what's a curly cheese sandwich ?!

That's an idea. Sasha may well eat way too much and throw up tho. She's so overweight already. As for dinner. I settled for a bowl of cereal and want to go to bed but can't leave Silver. I want to just sit with him. Maybe I'll sleep on the couch.

i still offer you some ondansetron. I think that could be a real help. Antibiotics wreck havoc on kitties.
I think I may have a dose or two of cerenia, I'll go look.

and what about separate rooms while you are gone to work so you don't worry of them fighting with each other... then you know whether he eats her food or not.

Meanwhile, tonite, I'd put out several servings of food .... with a little water to keep it from drying out. He might be more willing to eat when everything is quiet.
cheese, lunchmeat/deli meat, baby food, any food that he has ever shown any interest in that You were eating....

don't forget to rub on Sasha with a towel or old sock or something as well as rubbing on Silver and then trade....it will help him not to smell so "foreign" to Sasha

Right now, he doesn't smell like the Silver she knows....by adding some of her scent to his and vise versa, it may help stop the hissing/fighting

Oh hon, I'm sorry, I know it's hard :bighug:, hoping you can get some rest. For Sasha, a couple of days of the "sushi bar" may not affect her much... If there is a smorgasbord available...even like @rhiannon and shadow (GA) said for overnight, she'd have to hit max overload of available food..., is she a big fan of everything Silver likes too? I'm talking like seriously multiple offerings, temptation treats here and there, people food, canned food...and gasp..maybe some dry kibble... might at least get to the weekend and you can reassess how Silver is doing...eating and appy to me always came first :bighug:

Forgot about that...will do that now.

@rhiannon and shadow (GA) yes please I'd love to try the ondansetron. Vet gave me two Cerenia tablets - half for next four days....but hes been on that since Monday and not eating. But when I say are you hungry? he perks up and looks for his food - even came upstairs for it where I prepare it - but then when put in front of him he walked away.

Separate rooms concern me because I live in a one bedroom basement. Bathroom is too tiny - really - I barely fit in it - and that leaves living room and bedroom - one on each side would meow so loud - and my landlord upstairs will be upset. I am hoping to keep their surrounding as normal as possible. I'll try the sushi bar though.

@Christie & Maverick they both get fed the same thing - FF seafood. I've never fed them human food. Silver went for the sardines when he wasnt into anything else last Sunday and he also ate cooked white fish. But I tried both tonight and he wouldn't eat. Just a couple handfuls Temptation treats that he now won't touch. Dunno how I am going to give the 1/2 Cerenia and antibiotic tomorrow morning when he won't take a pill pocket. Tomorrow's challenge. I don't want my day getting off to a bad start. Havent slept in days and finding it hard to focus at work during the busiest month end billing days.

BG has dropped to 153 at +3 - not surprisingly no food bump. Hope he doesnt come down too low - although I did snag that test on the Accu-check that measures same as vet's readings - and he was 216

Sasha and I have gone to bed leaving Silver in the other room for now. Sasha doesn't stay long. I have a feeling I'm going to jump st every sound tonight. Six hours til alarm goes off :arghh:

I’m glad he’s home and purring and he ate the temptations. Hopefully with a little rest he will be up for eating later or tomorrow. I hope he feels a whole lot better soon and then you will too! :bighug:
