Good Morning LL!! ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) Hmmmmm..... I feel the need for Frango Mint Mochas! Elsa on the other hand is busy dishing out an Iced Coffee thing with Mocha Fudge Ice Cream in it. Huh? and Whoa....

Last night on the news they aired a news clip on Jim Whitaker, the first guy to climb Mt Everest. He's a local PNW'er, well he was back then. WOW, he's 80+ now, and went back to the Mountain to climb a portion of it with his son. He made 17000 feet, his son went on to complete the climb. 80 (!!) and he's on Everest - darn cool huh. My mom worked with him way back at Harborview Hospital in Seattle. She was a nurse, he was a physician(I think). He had been to my house couple of times a very long time ago, when I was a kid. wow - that was a nice thing to watch on the news last night... i so hope to be still going at it as well as he is when I am 80. What an amazing individual he is.

Nicholas and I had a great time at the pool yesterday. What I wrote last night sums it up best: "THE FISH was in his element once again. I think we did everything there was to do there, all the water works and slides, the big pool, jumping and tossing and just plain fun. 2.5 hours of wet stuff. I am amazed that a 2 year old has such energy. But I will laugh: he gets towards the end of his lunch and he's out like a light, half eaten strawberry dangling from his mouth.  Needless to say I hauled him home and laid him down for a nap.... Along with a bittersweet memory of Mannie being right there with him, cuddled up next to him on the blankie. What a wonderful memory that is. Who knows... he could be there in spirit sawing those logs right along in tune with Nicholas. :-D  " Here's the Picassa link (there are some videos in there too): Swimming

I would like to tank everyone for visiting yesterday, and all your wonderful comments on Elsa. She's such a great kitty, a beauty indeed. She will be 17 in August, that is hard to believe. Yesterday was one of those days when I thought about Mamie alot, some sad moments when the emotions just rushed back. It was interesting that she seemed to sense that, and came to pay me a visit. Amazing, and thank you Elsa!

Have a great day everyone. Nicholas and I are off for another river visit, as close as we can get to the mountains and not run into snow. He loves those rivers as much as i do. Very cool, very fun. :-D :-D :-D ~O)

Wow Elsa! She is becoming quite the little barista and getting creative.

That is way cool on Jim Whitaker. How neat that you remember him from your childhood. Amazing.

I love the pics from yesterday. What other two year old swims under water like a fish??? I have never known one. He truly loves the water and is so comfortable. Too funny on the strawberry. I bet he is exhausted by the end. ((((Michelle)))) Those days will be hard. Mannie was bigger than life. I'm glad that Elsa is doing ok. She is a beautiful kitty and seems to know that you need her as much as she needds you.

Have a wonderful day with your Fishie!

HI Michelle - sounds like yesterday was a terrific day! I love doing the water stuff with DGD and home DGD#2 loves it as well - she is about 6 months now. It's amazing how the little ones go 100 miles and hour and then stop, drop and crash into a nap. And with a half-eaten strawberry! It warms my heart to think about Mannie laying beside him and being with him even now. I hope Nicholas is working through loosing the Big Guy. Enjoy today's adventure! The kittehs are heading into town today to leave Mannie was Here plaques everywhere, so Mannie will be there in spirit.

Hi Michelle, I think I'll have one of Elsa's Iced Coffee thing with Mocha Fudge Ice Cream right about now. That is amazing news on Jim Whitaker completing some of the climb with his son and wow with your Mom knowing him.
Those are some great pics of DGS underwater, and so precious with falling asleep with part of the strawberry in his mouth. He really played his heart out yesterday swimming. I remember those pics of mannie watching over him while he slept. Sweet with Elsa staying close. She's a very sensitive, loving kitty and wanting to comfort you when sad.
Hope you are both having a great time and river adventure,

Re: 5/2 LOOSE LIPS: Whitaker & Everest, Greetings from Nicho

I hope you and Nicholas had a good river trip today. That's great how much he loves the water.

I'm glad Elsa was there to comfort you when you needed her. Our kitties are so smart and sensitive. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Hi Everyone! ~O) ~O) ~O)
Sorry I could get back to this until tonight. Nicholas and I spent the day on the river. AWESOME time. We had sun, and blue skies and warm, all near an incredibly beautiful river. With the snows starting to melt some on the mountains this river was so high and fast and full of energy. It was just the best. We spent almost the entire day there, walking from one end to the other, as far as we could get. We played in the sand, waded in the rover, threw countless rocks and sticks. Lunch was had on a boulder at rivers edge, as we watched the river move on by. We were fortunate enough to be able to watch an osprey fish that river. He made his aerial circles and them the fast dive into the river to catch his fish. Incredible sight, all just a mere 20 feet in front of us. Nicholas was so excited, and I so hope he will remember this. What a great day. I will post some photos tomorrow.

Hi Melissa - LOL on Elsa, she says she has some mighty big shoes to fill.... And THX - she seems to be doing well. I agree, we both need each other. THX on Whitaker - it really is, for me. amazing individual. THX on the pics . and I know.... not many 2 yr olds that you will see do that. He is very comfortable there. I spent alot of time with a slow intro to the water, made it fun, and off he went. Oh yes on the exhaustion - he crashes on the way home, down and out for a couple of hours.

HI Lisa - It was a great day. All of them with Nicholas are. Great isn't it when they take to the water? oh yes on eh 100 mph and the the crash.   me too on the thought that Mannie is with him. He seems to be OK with it all - all with him is in the moment, makes it easier. He just knows that Mannie, at that moment, is gone, and then he always says Mannie is happy. I love that. LOVE the kitty plaques - how fun, and very touching for me, and Mannie.

Hi Ann - I will tell Elsa she has a customer!  I thought so too on Whitaker - he's 80! Amazing!! to make that kind of a climb at 80. WOW! I had to laugh so hard at the sight of him asleep with that silly strawberry in his mouth. Priceless! and silly me didn't take a pic!! THX too on Mannie, and Elsa. She's been such a comfort! YUPP (!!!) - great time on the river!!

Hi Carla - we did!! it was a fantastic time. YaHOO! I so agree on our kitties: smart, and sensitive. She sure does help, a great comfort.

Re: 5/2 LOOSE LIPS: Whitaker & Everest, Greetings from Nicho

Hi Michelle!!! I'm so glad you're doing this!!! Sounds like Elsa is coming along nicely and that's so good to hear!! I love the resilience of two-year-olds. They can miss someone or something and still have a good day...we could all learn something from that, I guess!

I saw the story about John Whitake on our news too. Makes me very ashamed that I'm so lazy, let me tell ya!!

Glad you had a great day. I'm living vicariously through you, ya know!!

Re: 5/2 LOOSE LIPS: Whitaker & Everest, Greetings from Nicho

Hi Michelle,

Sounds like you and Nicholas had a grand time today. The hike along the river must have been beautiful.

Elsa is working at being the new barista! Good girl. We all need that ~O) , and those ice-coffee treats sound great for the summer. She is such a fine kitty to comfort you the way she does.

Whitaker on Everest at 80 is amazing. Gives us seniors somrthing to think about!! How neat that you met him when you were a child.

Gotta wait till we get home to see the FISH pics. I don't have fast internet here and they take ages to load.

Mannie was Here today in the City and the kitties made sure everyone knew it!

See you tomorrow, Rusty sends kitty hugs,

Ella & Rusty

I'm living thru you too... I don't have any grandkids and might not be blessed that way..
And that's really the only reason I had kids.
I wanted grandkids and there's only one way to get them .... suffer.... ba da bum....
I'm glad I had them now... they are the world to me but when I was young.... I wasn't so sure.... ;-)

So I really enjoy Nicholas's adventures and enthusiasm....

You might be able to help him remember by talking about the fish more or any thing special that happens and looking at his own pictures will really
help set some memories.
I remember my own childhood vividly....lots of trivial memories.... I think all of it.
My dd doesn't. We took her to Disneyland at age 6 and she doesn't really remember. She's just now looking at her own kid pictures and I wish
I had spent some time with her when we did fun things looking at the pictures again. I'm shocked.
I think the pictures reinforce and help the memory inprint.

It will definitely help set you up as the favorite grandmother that he did all the fun things with.....

Re: 5/2 LOOSE LIPS: Whitaker & Everest, Greetings from Nicho

Hi Patty - Many thanks on the LLips thing. I hope it is good. THx too on Elsa. Me too on 2 yr olds - i s agree. I think DGS knows, but he still enjoys what is around him, still remembers Mannie. It is really nice to see. I Like the fact tat some can live vicariously through the photos etc of others. I do it too - have a few peoples photos I follow that live in canada and ireland - wow, amazing pictures come out of their region. Such adventures they have. Fun, isn't it?

Hi Ella - Yes, the river was beautiful - colors the sun's warmth - just outstanding. THX too on Elsa, she really as been such good kitty. Makes sure she takes care of her bean. It's has been nice. I so agree on Whitaker, and on being active and able when we seniors are at that age. Very cool! No worries on the photos - I know there are alot.... and! I love the "Mannie was here" plaques. What a great tribute to him. I have been enjoying the photos Ann posts, and Rusty's adventure plans. Mannie is so proud, cruising right along there with his pals. :-D

Hey Rusty! Thanks for the kitty hugs!!!!

Hi Rhiannon - :-D on the grandkids thing. It's fun for me to share Nicholas with everyone. he's such a kind soul, loves all that he gets to see, all these adventures. He just soaks it all up. Really rewarding to watch. Interesting you should mention the talking about strictures etc. I do do that with Nicholas. I take a ton (!!), and upload them when he is here.We look at them all, talk about what he saw. We tell his dad and mom about everything when he goes home at night. I find it does make a difference. He can go back to a place, even at only 2 yrs old, and remember things about it, even when we aren't been there in a few months. Photos are a great tool - he can visualize again and again the things he saw. Like that osprey today - I so hope he remembers the experience of watching that bird hunt. and big :) and haha on the fav grandmother. yupp,  wow on that.

NI NI everyone!

Re: 5/2 LOOSE LIPS: Whitaker & Everest, Greetings from Nicho

I just got a chance to look at Elsa's photos. She's beautiful and looks so happy up on that rail. She reminds me so much of a kitty we had...a torti with a stripe on her face. I'm sure everyone would love to have her as a barista...they all miss their coffee deliveries although it won't be quite the same without Mannie.

Gorgeous property!

Re: 5/2 LOOSE LIPS: Whitaker & Everest, Greetings from Nicho

Morning Marje - THX on Elsa, I think she is too. She is as much of a backyard kitty as Mannie was - love her place here. LOL on the barista thing. It still cracks me up how that whole thing with Mannie took off - everyone needs their favorite barista. :-D Hey thx too on the yard. Alot of work it is, but I love it.
