Good day everyone,

Well it's looking like Juba may need to get back on insulin since she's been surfing in the blues the past couple days.

Last night I went out with some of my friends, leaving my husband in charge of feeding the cats. I laid everything out for him and even told him what to do before I left.
Well...apparently when I got home he accidentally gave the cats double their food because he thought I left earlier than I did and that they didn't get their third meal (4 hours before dinner) and just gave it to them along with their actual dinner.
Ugh.
So Juba was higher last night and I am blaming my husband.
I'm also blaming him for Juba being high this morning because apparently what he gave her to eat last night wasn't even a part of her normal diet.
(I swear I told him all what to do!)

We'll see how her numbers are in a few hours.

So there's a reason for the higher number. Continue following the OTJ instructions and try not to worry too much. I know. Impossible but I had to say it. One above normal number does not mean a failed trial. Good luck. :bighug:

As Elise says, there is a reason for the higher numbers. Let's see what the +3 or +4 number is. The occasional blue numbers are not a failure. Is she getting a PM+9 snack?

In the mean time, Happy Day 3!

I agree - just get her back to the routine with her low carb food now. Fingers crossed she comes back down and all goes well!

eta: don't be too mad at your husband over it. ;) We've all made mistakes on something with a diabetic cat.

Yep, she's getting actually a +8 snack. More like a mini meal.
I've been gradually introducing more mini meals into their diet throughout the day and now Juba is eating about every 4 hours. They're mostly smaller meals, but breakfast and dinner are a little more.
Last night my husband just gave her +8 and dinner together, lol.
Idk what he was thinking...

She's certainly looking good now - she's dealt with that 123 and come right back down. :D I had to switch to testing Rosa after she'd had breakfast while she was on her trial - she tended to hover in the low blues until after she ate and her body started working on the food (she's a bit lazy about eating at night while we're asleep). It might be worth trying that with Juba - it might save you some stress over seeing those low blue numbers first thing in the morning. :)

And I agree, we all make mistakes. The day Rosa earned her last reduction I had to go to work. I carbed her, made sure she was above 50, left my husband with detailed instructions about giving her more carbs because he couldn't test her and I had to make sure she'd be a little over-carbed instead of under in case she started to slide back down and left for work. I thought he'd followed my instructions, but I found out later he'd given her 2.5 (small) cans of high carb spread over 3 hours instead of 1 can (and no, I don't know how he could have got that so wrong either). By the time I got home, she was back down into green anyway (or maybe she didn't react much to all those carbs - I'll never know). She must have thought it was her birthday and Christmas all at once! These things happen - breathe, forgive him and be happy she's brought her numbers back down on her own this morning! :)

Happy Day 3!! :D :D

I see a +3/63 on her spreadsheet. You might want to update the subject line for all of us on Team Juba that are wondering how she's doing! :D:D:D
