This one is not entirely unexpected. Last night's cycle was kind of a double whammy - a 200 point drop combined with a low AMPS nadir.

It looks like he was able to hold on to greens through the first quarter of the cycle. But after that, there's no stopping the rebound. Not much we can do except to wait it out.

On an unrelated note, I recently had to restock some cat food and noticed new labels from Friskies. Cool, I thought. No, not cool at all. Jenks loved Classic Seafood Entree in the original blue label. It was his breakfast staple. Now, the moment I present him with the new yellow label version, he immediately gets up and walks away. WHY DO YOU HATE US PURINA? angrily shakes fist at the sky

I'm going to return these new ones to the store and buy up any blue label ones remaining. He's become so finicky lately that we're down to like 4-5 selections that he'll eat. If it turns out Friskies reformulated the remainder of its lineup for the worse, we're going to be in trouble.

@Kris & Teasel - Awwww, thanks for your awesome comment. He's a handsome boy, and he definitely uses it to his advantage.

ARGH!!! I do think cat food manufacturers are trying to kill us! I understand Wellness has made some changes, too. Don't they understand how finicky cats are about changes to their fuds??? Time for an angry email or two, I think.

Meanwhile, Jenks, let's cut trampoline practice short, okay? No need to spend any more time on the silly thing.

Oh no on the cat food. I hope you can find something Jenks will still eat. I hope Jenks clears the bounce soon and surfs for you.

Oh he cleared it all right. We're at 30. Yep, even double checked it.

I'm pretty sure what we're seeing is a result of him refusing to eat any dinner food. I offered him Ocean Whitefish and Tuna and instead he got up and left. He does this from time to time and I never give it a second thought because if he gets hungry he can just come eat whenever he wants.

So as I was in and out of the room for the last hour or so preceding the test, he was just hanging out. No indication whatsoever that he was down 200+ points by midcycle. He wasn't seeking out food. He wasn't doing anything even out of the ordinary. It's nuts, I tell ya.

But boy did he have a ravenous appetite once I got some food down. He wolfed down at least half a can of Mixed Grill with some karo, so he was clearly feeling the low reading.

Now I just have to wait for the sugar to kick in before a follow up test. He wasn't done eating until about quarter after, so I'll probably give him 45 minutes and test him at the top of the hour. It's probably going to be a long night.

Now I have to figure out what to do about the dose. The number alone is cause enough for a reduction, but I'm not sure it's entirely the insulin's fault. Like I said, I don't know if he even ate anything all night. I guess we'll see what the numbers are over the course of the next 4 and a half hours or so before making a decision....
