Yesterday

Such a sad day in L&L Land, with the passing of our friend, Paula. :(

Harvey's appy has been playing hide and seek all day. He ate all his t/f/s meal this morning, then picked at his breakfast. He got Ondansetron and Cypro and things picked up for most of the afternoon. Now he's not too excited about his dinner. It may just be that he doesn't like the flavor I chose. I give him a little longer to decide, then offer something else. Picky cat.

He's been pretty much flat blue today, but that's okay. No bowling tonight, so he can throw a PJ party if he wants. Meanwhile, I'm going into withdrawl in the second week with no garlic pretzel bites!

Today was scrub the shower day. It's something I put off as long as I can, as it's so hard on my hands and back, but then it's so filthy that it takes longer to clean, so I guess that isn't accomplishing much. Anyway, it's done now, everything hurts, but the shower looks great! Time for an adult beverage....

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug: Extra vines to Sienne as she recovers from her hip surgery. Still waiting for those drug influenced posts she warned about.....;)

Such a sad day here in L&LL with the loss of Paula....she was one of a kind, that's for sure!!

Now Harvey....we have to have a talk about this picky appetite of yours.....You holding out for a buffet? Mama has to open at least 6 cans to find an acceptable one?? Be a good boy and eat your fuds!!!

Hope you'll try really hard to make it down to the lagoon tonight....Miss China misses you!!

Ugghhh on the shower job....Have you ever tried one of those Scrubbing Bubbles automatic shower cleaners?

Harvey....eat, please. If I could siphon some of Snickers appy for you I would do it in a heartbeat!

I feel the same about vacuuming. It hurts my shoulders to stand and vacuum. I have to do it in sections and rest in between so it ends up taking a few hours.

I hope Harvey's appy comes back soon. It is always a worry when they don't eat.
I hate cleaning the shower as well. Have you got anything you can spray on it and leave it a few hours and it is easier to clean.

Thanks for the visit, everyone. Harvey's appy is much better this evening. He's almost finished the can of Merrick's Tuna Pate I opened for dinner. :woot: Those vines and cajoling have obviously helped. Please keep it going!

He decided to accept China's invitation to visit the lagoon tonight. It remains to be seen how much time he'll spend there, but I'm glad he made it that far! :D

Have you ever tried one of those Scrubbing Bubbles automatic shower cleaners?
I tried that when they first came out. It just does a surface clean, but doesn't do much for the buildup caused by body oils + soap scum that I am battling.

Have you got anything you can spray on it and leave it a few hours and it is easier to clean.
I have tried all kinds of products. It's a fiberglass shower pan, and the combination of body oils and soap leads to a buildup that makes it look grimy and is very hard to remove. I found a product that worked, made by Comet, but it was discontinued several years ago.

:(:banghead:. I tried multiple bathroom cleaning products with no success. I then tried using a steam cleaner, but that required a LOT of heavy duty scrubbing, which took me all day because I kept having to stop to let the pain subside, then was miserable for days afterward. Currently, the best method I've found is using shampoo and a good scrub brush. It works way better than any commercial cleaning product I've tried, but does still require a fair amount of elbow grease and is hard on the back - but it's much faster and easier than the other methods (except the product that was discontinued).

Have you ever tried dish washing liquid? I haven't tried it but I know professional cleaners who use it for Windows as it cuts the grease.
I am really lucky. Because I look after my grandchildren every day, my kids pay for a cleaner to come in. I haven't had to clean the house, showers etc for 10 years. And don't I love it!!

@Bron and Sheba you are lucky. I am afraid anyone I hired to come here to clean would either run screaming out the door or demand double their usual pay - this house is so packed full of stuff! It makes it very hard to clean.

I have not tried dish soap. The reason I use shampoo is because it's made to remove oil from the hair and many are designed to remove the buildup from products in the hair. I read somewhere that it's good to use to clean the shower door, as it's safe for any coating on it and cleans the soap scum, and it works. So I decided to try it on the shower pan, and it does do a better job than anything I've tried before. I often have shampoo left in the bottle when the corresponding conditioner is gone, so I use that remaining bit, or I save the little bottles from hotels.

Harvey is got tired of wading in the lagoon and is now standing at the water's edge, watching the kitties that are still out there frolicking. Sheba and China, he's got his eyes on you! Keep it safe!

Harvey, dawdling. Just dawdling. If you're appy can be happy later in the day, it can be happy in the morning, too. Don't stress the bean! I mean it, mister!

Shower goo. Hey. When I retired the second time, I took a day to do my shower cleaning. (A tradition, each time I retire, I clean my shower!) Honest. Worked. 1 cup white vinegar heated in the microwave. 1 cup dawn dish detergent. Shake gently in a spray bottle. Spray and wipe! Stubborn gunk. Spray. Let sit, maybe overnight if needed. Wet wipe.

I also switched from bar soap to liquid soap. Much less residue. And I spray with a shower cleaner after each use. I figure I won't have to down-and-dirty clean that sucker 'til my third retirement!

The stuff also works great on greasy build up in the kitchen.

Yes, it's pungent; I kept the vent fan running throughout.
