Hello everyone!!! Long time no see!!!
It's been a while since I posted a condo for Champ and I thought I should probably get one out there since he has a vet appointment tomorrow and it would be WONDERFUL to have some good thoughts come his way that everything is well with him. He's just going in for his yearly senior check-up so I don't anticipate any bad news. He's been in excellent health and hasn't given me any reasons to worry. As a matter of fact, he has recently, over the last week, realized that he can still get up onto the kitchen counters. He hasn't done this in YEARS so the counters aren't cat-proofed. While he can still get up on the counters, he has seriously lost his cat-like grace and, you guessed it, started knocking stuff over. Unfortunately, last night one of the things he knocked over, onto the kitchen floor, was a large pepper shaker which, since it isn't used very often, was completely full of pepper.... all over the kitchen floor....with shards of ceramic intermixed. I couldn't even get mad. I was so glad to see him get up on the counter, the loss of a pepper shaker I seldom used just didn't seem like a big deal. But then, later last evening, he jumped up on the end table by the couch where I was sitting, trying to get my attention, when his big fat hairy butt knocked over my HUMONGOUS Diet Coke my daughter had kindly picked up for me. Of course, the drink was in a disposable cup with a flimsy lid and the drink went ALL OVER MY CARPET!!!! He did get yelled at that time. DO NOT feel sorry for him!!!! Big fat hairy cat butts should not be where they can knock over someone's Diet Coke!!! Well, the mess was cleaned up and the carpet is none the worse for wear. Thank goodness the carpet I put in is a color that easily disguises cat mess-ups!!
In looking around LL, it's very easy to see that things have sure changed!! I certainly don't recognize very many names anymore, though it's nice to see some old-timers still around (if your cat still having FD can be called "nice"). While I don't post a condo for Champ very often, I did come on every day when Mannie was sick, saying my prayers along with everyone else. It felt like a family member had passed when Mannie went over the Rainbow Bridge. Michelle was so good about taking pictures and videos, telling such wonderul stories, that it was very easy to feel like Mannie was "mine." I knew everything about him, all his mannerisms, likes, and dislikes. I swear I knew what his fur felt like. I cried buckets, still do every once in a while when Michelle posts a video or even just talks about him. I'll miss him greatly. I worry A LOT, if Mannie's passing affected me so much, how I'm going to do when it's Champ's time. He's my only pet. I've had him since he was a baby and I've always worked from home since I've had him (he turned 12 this past March) so we have a really strong bond. He's more like a dog than a cat....follows me from room to room, even interrupting his nap to get up and move if I go to a different room. I'll just have to do my best to keep him healthy!!!! I've attached a couple pictures of Champers. In one, my daughter is holding him and you can see how HUGE he is. In the other, he looks so much smaller. It doesn't even look like the same cat!!
I hope everyone is doing well and has had a great day!!! I'll probably post tomorrow after Champ's vet appointment. Good thoughts, people!!
