So yesterday she stayed green all day! Awesome numbers, made Jamie bean very happy. Shot this morning then had to leave (job interview in san Diego!) she ate a good breffest, so I left another good amount in
her bowl to snack on through the day. Can't wait for my auto feeders to show up from amazon!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Very impressive greens yesterday. I think Vesta wins the surf contest for yesterday!

And I wonder where Vesta's numbers have been today?

Where have her numbers been today, you ask? Well, giving mom a few palpitations, that's where! I just got home (1130pm) to find her pm+4 all the way down to 48. Lowest BG ever. DH was home for the earlier tests (+10, pmps, +2). But seriously? When I got less than 4 hours of sleep last night, and had a LONG day of interviewing and driving? Seriously.

So yeah, fed her 1/3can HC (some FF that according to Binky's old charts is 18%) and I'll see what she's up to at +5. I know from last night that she responds pretty well BG-wise to MC, so I'm guessing it'll be similar if not better to the HC***. I don't want her to get to RBC too hard so we're taking it slow.

But man, Boo-boos... I'm TIRED! (Boo-boo, or booze, is our affectionate term for her when we love her but are a bit irritated, or just a general term of affection. I couldn't even tell you how it got started, but 9 years later, it stuck!)

***My theory on the MC/HC bump for her: If you look at her SS, we were pmps+2~68. I gave her 1/3can MC and tested again at +4. Got a 66, so I think she probably went up a little at +3 in response to the food, then back down for +4 as the insulin fought through it. I gave another 1/3can at +4, and you can see the +5 was 78. Then her +6 was back to 62, again, the insulin fighting through it. I felt safe leaving her another 1/3can and going to bed at that point because she usually starts going back up after +6, plus I had given her the food. Plus I was EXHAUSTED. So yeah, I'm not suuuuuuper stressed out about testing in the 40s right now, because I have confidence in all that darned gravy in the sliced turkey FF.

Two side notes:

1. Do you guys think this might have to do with starting a new lantus pen/cartridge 8 cycles ago? More potent, since we're keeping it in the fridge like the board's best practices suggest?

2. Dose-crease down a little? Skinny 2?

+5 of 54. Gave another 1/3 can of HC and NEED TO SLEEP... When she finished the HC, I left more LC out for midnight snackus. Though in this case, it'd be like 3 or 4am snackus. Or "mom, my bs's dropping and I'm hungee" snackus. Either way, I'm pooped and I'm sleeping.

See you guys <yawn> in the am.

I hope you are sleeping now, it sounds like a hard day with the traveling and staying up with Vesta. The 48 signals a dose decrease for Vesta, yes. Being newly diagnosed you can take the dose down by .25u.

Nice job with the feeding of MC or HC as needed. Hope today is more restful and Vesta has more pretty numbers.

I'm with CD. Congrats on the dose reduction.

And good rationale for feeding the way you did. The only thing I'd put out there as a consideration is that if numbers are lower than the 48, there are times when you will want to test more frequently (e.g., every 15 - 20 min.) and feed with each test. In a situation like that, you will want to feed less than 1/3 of a can. You don't want Vesta to get too full and refuse food if her numbers are low. You can also feed just the gravy in HC since that's where the majority of the carbs are.
